Oil India Limited (OIL), a Maharatna public sector company and the country's second-largest national oil and gas producer, is hiring Retainer Doctors on contract for its Field Headquarters at Duliajan, Assam. This is a purely contractual engagement for immediate joining, not a regular medical officer post, and selection happens through a single walk-in interview at Duliajan.

The job suits an MBBS doctor with a completed internship who is comfortable with field-hospital life. The notice says plainly that the work involves shift duty and on-call duty, so expect night and emergency calls rather than fixed clinic hours. Only Indian nationals can apply.

The seats are split between the unreserved and Scheduled Tribe categories, and Scheduled Tribe candidates get a higher upper age limit. The post is also marked suitable for persons with benchmark disabilities in the OA, OL, OAL and dwarfism categories.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The first contract runs for one year. OIL may extend it twice by six months each, after a break, so the engagement can last at most two years.
• No regularisation: The contract gives you no right or claim to a permanent job at OIL.
• Notice period: Either side can end the contract with 15 days' notice.
• Pay structure: The monthly amount has a fixed and a variable part; during maternity leave only the fixed part is paid. EPF and gratuity apply, and you must share your UAN at joining.
• Housing: OIL gives shared executive accommodation.
• Leave: You get 10 days of paid leave a year, with no more than six days at a time.
• Posting: You can be placed at any location the competent authority decides, and you cannot take up any other assignment during the contract.
• Joining: You must join immediately if selected; OIL allows at most 15 extra days on request, after which the offer is cancelled.
• Pre-engagement checks: A medical fitness certificate from a government-registered doctor, a police verification report, and a release letter from your present employer if you are working.
• Costs: No travel or daily allowance is paid for attending the interview, and joining travel is not reimbursed.

Application Submission Notes

There is no online form. Report in person to the Duliajan Club, Oil India Limited, Duliajan and register at the venue between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM on the walk-in day. Late arrivals are not registered under any circumstances.

Bring the filled Personal Bio-Data Form printed on the last two pages of the advertisement, along with all originals and one set of self-attested copies. Your details are checked against the originals at registration, so missing certificates mean you will not be allowed to sit the interview. If too many doctors turn up, the interviews continue on the following day(s).
