NIT Agartala is hiring 1 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) / Project Assistant (PA) for a research project in its Department of Chemistry. NIT Agartala has released a notification (Advt No. F.NITA/15(7-CHEM)/ANRF Project/JRF/S.Kumar/2026) for 1 Junior Research Fellow or Project Assistant post under a research project titled "Advancing sustainable electrocatalysts for high-current alkaline electrolyzer for low-cost green hydrogen production". The project is funded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) and is led by Dr. Sriram Kumar. If a suitable JRF candidate is not found, the position will be filled as PA instead. The project runs for 36 months (June 2026 to May 2029), and the position is co-terminus with the project.

NIT Agartala is one of India's premier technical institutes, located in Tripura's Jirania area. Working on this project gives you the chance to research green hydrogen production technology — a growing area in clean energy — and if selected, you will also have the option to register for a PhD program in the Department of Chemistry, subject to the Institute's PhD eligibility rules.

Who Can Apply?

For JRF (Rs. 37,000/month + HRA):

• MSc in Chemistry/Applied Chemistry with a valid CSIR-UGC NET and/or GATE score

For PA (Rs. 30,000/month + HRA):

• MSc in Chemistry or an equivalent degree from a recognized university

Desirable: Experience in Physical Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Material Science, or Nanomaterials.

Salary

• JRF: Rs. 37,000 per month plus 10% HRA
• PA: Rs. 30,000 per month plus 10% HRA
• No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview or joining.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written test for this post. Selection is based on:

1. Document Screening: Your educational certificates, research publications, and statement of interest will be reviewed.
2. Interview: You will be interviewed in hybrid mode (online/offline) at the Department of Chemistry, NIT Agartala.
