The Office of Industrial Consultancy and Sponsored Research (IC&SR), IIT Madras, has released Advertisement No. ICSR/PR/Advt.146/2026 dated 4 August 2026 for 1 Senior Manager post at the Centre of Excellence on Sports Science and Analytics (CESSA), working under the coordination of Prof. Mahesh Panchagnula, Department of Applied Mechanics and Biomedical Engineering. CESSA is a multidisciplinary research and innovation hub that works at the intersection of sports science, data analytics, AI, biomechanics, IoT and wearable technology, and it partners with national sports federations, government bodies and industry players to drive athlete performance, fan engagement, sports education and the growth of India's sports-tech startup ecosystem. As the Business Development Manager, you will lead two strategic priorities — building and sustaining relationships with national and state sports federations, sporting bodies, clubs and athlete communities across India, and driving commercial partnerships and institutional sales to grow CESSA's consortium and membership programme. This role gives you direct access to world-class faculty, cutting-edge research and IIT Madras's startup ecosystem through the IITM Research Park and Incubation Cell, so it suits commercially minded, well-networked candidates rather than fresh graduates. Since this is a newly created, high-visibility role at a growing centre, you will have the freedom to shape how CESSA engages with federations and partners rather than following an established playbook.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification (Route 1): Undergraduate bachelor's degree in Business, Sports Management, Engineering or a related field, with 10 years of relevant experience.
• Qualification (Route 2): Postgraduate MBA or postgraduate degree in Sports Management, Business or a related discipline, with 5 to 8 years of business development, partnerships or institutional sales experience.
• Experience: You should have a demonstrated track record of closing deals, ideally within Indian sports federations, sporting communities or the sports-tech ecosystem.
• Communication: Excellent written and spoken English is required; proficiency in an additional Indian language is an advantage.
• Travel: You should be comfortable with pan-India travel, expecting 8 to 10 travel days per month.
• Preferred (not mandatory): Prior sporting experience, exposure to consortium or membership models, familiarity with government grant processes (DST, MEITY, SAI, Khelo India), and an understanding of sports analytics or AI/ML applications in sports.
• Only relevant experience gained after your qualifying degree is considered; the experience requirement can be relaxed at the Institute's discretion for SC/ST candidates if sufficient qualified candidates from these categories are not available.
• Day-to-day focus: Your work will split across two priorities — sports federation and community engagement across India, and driving corporate and institutional partnerships that bring revenue and visibility to CESSA.

Salary

• You will get a fixed monthly pay of Rs. 1,00,000.
• This is a contractual position and the pay is fixed by the Institute; no separate allowances are mentioned in the notification.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following stages:
