National Institute of Technology Durgapur (NIT Durgapur) Guest Coach Recruitment 2026

The Student Activity Centre (SAC) at the National Institute of Technology Durgapur (NIT Durgapur) has invited applications for the engagement of Guest Coaches on a purely temporary, "as and when required" basis. The coaches will help train Institute teams for inter-college and inter-NIT tournaments during the Academic Year 2026-27. Four disciplines are covered — Football, Kabaddi, Handball, and Gymnasium (male candidates only for the Gym post) — so candidates from any of these sporting backgrounds can apply.

NIT Durgapur is one of India's National Institutes of Technology, located in Durgapur, West Bengal. The Institute fields teams in inter-NIT and inter-college tournaments through the year, and its Student Activity Centre regularly brings in experienced outside coaches to help these teams train and perform well.

Guest Coaches are not regular Institute employees — you will be called in for specific training sessions as the teams prepare for tournaments, so the number of sessions and working hours will vary through the year. This makes the role well suited to local coaches, retired sportspersons, or physical education graduates near Durgapur, West Bengal who want flexible, hourly-paid coaching work alongside other commitments.

Who Can Apply?

For Football, Kabaddi and Handball Coach:

• You need a Diploma in Coaching from a recognized University/Institution, OR
• A professional-level coaching course, OR
• Experience of playing at the International or National level in your respective discipline

For Gymnasium Coach (Male candidates only):

• You need a Diploma in Gym & Fitness Trainer from a recognized University/Institution, OR
• A professional-level coaching course, OR
• Participation in an International or National level power sports competition

Desirable for all disciplines:

• At least one year of coaching experience in a reputed organization is preferred, though not mandatory

Acceptable proof of your coaching background includes your coaching diploma certificate, or documentary evidence of having represented your state or country at the National or International level in your discipline.

Salary

• Selected Guest Coaches will be paid Rs. 175 per hour of coaching.
• This is an hourly-paid, as-and-when engagement — you will be called in only when the Institute needs training sessions, so there is no fixed monthly salary or guaranteed number of hours.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam for this engagement. Your biodata and submitted certificates will be reviewed by the Student Activity Centre, and you may be asked to produce your original certificates on demand before you are engaged as a Guest Coach.
