IIT Kharagpur SRF CSE Recruitment 2026

IIT Kharagpur Senior Research Fellow CSE Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur) is recruiting a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) for a time-bound research project in its Department of Computer Science and Engineering. The work is based at the institute in Kharagpur, with Rajat Subhra Chakraborty named as the project coordinator.

The project brings together network packet processing and hardware-based security. Its scope includes an indigenous processor on a field programmable gate array, a stateful firewall, and real-time intrusion detection and prevention.

The sponsor is the Directorate of Futuristic Technology Management (DFTM), part of the Defence Research and Development Organisation under the Ministry of Defence. Your appointment would be with this institute project, under the Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy notice, rather than a separate recruitment by the sponsoring organisation.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project appointment: The assignment is tied to the named research project. Keep that connection in mind when considering the position, because the notice describes a time-bound engagement.
• Initial tenure: You would join for one year, counted from your joining date. The notice allows an extension, but does not promise it at the time of appointment.
• Extension: Continued engagement depends on performance and can run up to a maximum of four years or the end of the project, whichever comes first. The project ending earlier also limits the assignment.
