NIMHANS is hiring 1 Psychologist on a contract basis for a Wellcome Trust UK-funded research project based in Hyderabad. NIMHANS Psychologist Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore, has released a notification for 1 Psychologist post on a contract basis. The post is part of the CLEVER project (Cognitive Level Enhancement through Vision Exams and Refraction) — a Wellcome Trust UK-funded randomised controlled trial studying how spectacles can reduce cognitive decline in older adults in India. The work location is L V Prasad Eye Institute GPR Campus, Kismatpur, Hyderabad, under the supervision of Dr. Suvarna Alladi, Professor of Neurology and Principal Investigator at NIMHANS. The contract is initially for 6 months, renewable every 6 months based on performance, for the full 2-year project duration.

- Degree: Master's in Psychology or MSW (Medical and Psychiatry)
- Experience: Demonstrated experience in administering psychological assessments
- Languages: You must be fluent in spoken and written English, Telugu, and Hindi

- Previous experience of working with vulnerable groups
Age Limit
- Maximum age: 35 years as on the notification date (28 April 2026)
Salary
- Consolidated salary of Rs 30,000 per month
- Note: No TA/DA is payable for attending the written test or interview
Selection Process
Selection is done in up to 2 stages at the discretion of NIMHANS:
- Written Test: You must score a minimum of 50% marks to qualify for the skill test/interview. (The institute may waive the written test and go directly to interview.)
- Skill Test / Interview: For direct interview cases, you must score at least 50% marks in the interview. Shortlisted candidates will be informed by email and will receive a call letter.
Note: Candidates currently working on Extramural/Intramural projects at NIMHANS must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their Principal Investigator. Candidates must register their names 30 minutes before the commencement of the test/interview.

Responsibilities
- Administer cognitive assessments in line with the objectives of the CLEVER research project
- Participate in research training sessions for administering cognitive tests and conducting observations
- Administer LASI DAD cognitive tests on vulnerable groups under supervision at LVPEI center, Hyderabad
- Work efficiently and take full responsibility for all allotted tasks within the project timeline
- Follow institutional document processes including leave policy, attendance policy, and discipline standards
- Support community programs and conduct field activities as required under the project
- Maintain strong interpersonal skills while working with a wide range of research participants and team members
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Master's in Psychology or MSW (Medical and Psychiatry) with experience in administering psychological assessments
Preferred Qualification
Research experience in psychology or mental health; prior experience working with vulnerable groups
Required Skills
Psychological assessment administration; fluency in spoken and written English, Telugu, and Hindi; ability to administer LASI DAD cognitive tests
Age Limit
18 - 35 years (as on 28 Apr 2026)

Pay Scale
Rs 30,000 per month consolidated (fixed contract salary)
