About This Job
Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) is hiring 2 Consultants on contract basis at its Headquarters in New Delhi. If you are a retired Central Government officer who served at Pay Level 5 to 8 of the 7th CPC and have office work experience, you can apply by email or post. Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Consultant Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts
Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), under the Ministry of Home Affairs, has released a circular for engaging 2 full-time Consultants on contract basis at the Capacity Building Branch, NCB Headquarters, New Delhi. This is an opportunity for retired Central Government employees who want to continue contributing in office work, training data preparation, and the K9 (sniffer dog) project. The engagement is initially for 6 months and can be extended by the Competent Authority.
Who Can Apply?
- Retirement Status: You must be a Government servant retired from the Central Government.
- Pay Level at Retirement: You should have retired at Pay Level 5 to 8 of the 7th CPC pay matrix.
- Education Qualification: Graduation from a recognised university.
- Experience: You should have considerable experience of working in Central Government Ministries or Departments. Experience in office work such as typing, noting and drafting letters is required.
- Language: You must be well versed in both Hindi and English.
- Vigilance Clearance: You must have been clear from vigilance angle at the time of retirement.
Age Limit
- Maximum age: Below 65 years
- The contract will be terminated automatically when you attain the age of 65 years.
Salary
- You will get a fixed monthly remuneration calculated as: Last pay drawn minus pension plus transport allowance, not exceeding the amount admissible at the time of retirement.
- For Central Government retirees under NPS: 30% of the last basic pay drawn at retirement will be deducted, and the remaining amount will be fixed as monthly pay.
- This follows Department of Expenditure OM No. 3-25/2020-E.III A dated 09.12.2020.
- You will not get any other allowances, residential accommodation, telephone, transport facilities or staff car.

Selection Process
- Screening of Applications: NCB will screen applications based on retirement pay level, education, experience, and language skills.
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates' PPO and Last Pay Certificate / Pay Slip will be verified.
- Final Selection: NCB reserves the right to accept or reject any or all responses without giving any reason.
Note: There is no written exam. Selection is based on merit and screening of credentials.

Responsibilities
- Assist in official work at the Capacity Building Branch of NCB Headquarters
- Prepare and maintain training data for NCB programmes
- Help implement the K9 (sniffer dog) project activities
- Coordinate with other agencies for capacity building tasks
- Handle typing, noting and drafting of official letters in Hindi and English
- Maintain absolute confidentiality and secrecy of information handled during and after the contract
- Follow office hours from 09:30 AM to 06:00 PM and report on holidays when called in exigencies
