DIAT Graduate Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Overview

Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), Pune, a deemed university working under the Department of Defence Research & Development (Ministry of Defence), is taking on Graduate and Diploma Apprentices for a one-year apprenticeship at its Girinagar campus. Selection happens through a single walk-in interview, so there is no online form to fill.

This is training under the Apprentices Act, 1961, governed by the Board of Apprenticeship Training, Western Region (BOAT-WR). It is not a job offer — it gives a recent graduate or diploma holder a year of paid, hands-on experience inside a defence research institute, which reads well on any CV.

Posts and Disciplines

• Assistant (General Administration): office-side training in the institute's administration, open to graduates from any stream.
• Lab Technician: laboratory-side training for science or engineering graduates and engineering diploma holders.

Whichever track you choose, DIAT decides the section or department where you train, and you have to accept that placement.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Recent pass-outs only: No more than four years can have passed between your qualifying exam result and the interview date.
• NATS 2.0 registration: You must be registered on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS 2.0) portal, and your bank account must be seeded with Aadhaar so the stipend can reach you.
• No job guarantee: DIAT has no obligation to employ you after the training ends.
• Stipend revision: The monthly stipend includes the government's DBT share and may go up if the Government of India revises apprentice rates.
• Joining deadline: You must join within 15 days of the appointment letter, or your selection is cancelled.
• Contract registration: Your apprenticeship contract is registered with BOAT (WR), Mumbai.
• No accommodation or travel: DIAT does not provide housing or travel allowance to apprentices, so plan your own stay in Pune.
• Medical cover: During training you can use the free primary / OPD medical facility at the DIAT MI Room (for yourself only).
• Reservation: Reserved-category training places follow apprenticeship rules; if reserved candidates are not available, those places can go to other candidates.
• Provisional selection: The selection stays provisional until your certificates are verified; false information cancels it at any stage.

Walk in to DIAT, Girinagar, Near Khadakwasla Dam, Pune 411025 at 11:00 AM on the interview day. Bring the application form printed at the end of the advertisement, already filled in, along with your original certificates and one set of attested photocopies.
