India Optel Limited (IOL), a Defence PSU under the Ministry of Defence that makes optical and opto-electronic sights, systems and cables for the armed and paramilitary forces, wants a Director for its DPSU Coordination Cell (DCC). The cell works from IIT Roorkee and links defence PSUs with the institute's faculty for long-term research under the DDP guidelines. This is a fixed-term contract meant for senior retired professionals, not a regular job — if you have retired from a DPSU, a central government post or a science body such as DRDO, ISRO, CSIR or an IIT, this role puts your experience to work on defence technology projects.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Retired officers only: You must have retired from a senior executive grade in a DPSU, from an equivalent senior central government post, or as a professor or scientist from an IIT, CSIR, DRDO, ISRO or similar body.
• Clean record: You need a clear vigilance and disciplinary record at retirement and must sign the prescribed declaration.
• Pay rule: Your monthly amount is your last pay drawn minus your basic pension, fixed for the whole contract — no annual increment and no DA rise during the term.
• Tenure: One year from taking charge, extendable year by year within an overall five-year ceiling (or the notice's age ceiling, if that comes first), based on a performance review of project progress and coordination.
• Place of work: Regular physical presence at IIT Roorkee, with travel to IOL units, DRDO, DPSUs, the armed forces and other project sites.
• Secrecy: You sign a non-disclosure agreement and come under the Official Secrets Act, 1923; any conflict of interest must be disclosed.
• Exit: Either side can end the contract with 30 days' notice or pay in lieu.
• Checks: Engagement depends on medical fitness and character and antecedents verification, repeated at every extension.
