ECHS Pune Medical Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview

Station HQ (ECHS Cell), Pune of the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), which runs under the Ministry of Defence, is hiring medical, para-medical and non-medical staff on a contract basis for its centres in Pune. The openings cover a Medical Officer, a Dental Officer, a Laboratory Technician and a Peon, spread across the Regional Centre and two polyclinics that treat retired soldiers and their families.

The contract runs up to 31 March 2027 and can be renewed, so this suits doctors and staff who want steady work close to the armed-forces community. Most of these seats are reserved for Ex-Servicemen, but civilians with the right qualification and experience can also apply.

Posts and Disciplines

• Ex-Servicemen reservation: 60% of the medical posts and 70% of the para-medical and non-medical posts are reserved for Ex-Servicemen, and ESM get preference across the board.
• Peon: open to people with schooling up to Class 8 or a GD trade from the Armed Forces, so it is a natural fit for retired soldiers.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract term: Engagement is up to 31 March 2027, renewable for another year or until you reach the maximum age, subject to your performance.
• Unpaid training for doctors: Selected Medical and Dental Officers must finish 10 days of on-the-job training, which is unpaid, and get a certificate from the Officer-in-Charge Polyclinic before signing the contract.
• Affidavit for ESM officers: Ex-Servicemen officers must give an affidavit with the application stating whether they get any resettlement benefit from DoESW/DGR. If you are selected, you must give up any such benefit before joining.
• Fixed pay: Each post carries a fixed monthly remuneration; there is no pay scale or increment structure.
• No travel allowance: No TA/DA is paid for the interview, and the vacancies may change.
