National Brain Research Centre Project Associate-I Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

National Brain Research Centre (NBRC) has released Advertisement No. Acad./03/2026 dated 19 June 2026 for one Project Associate-I position. The post is for the DBT-funded project titled Investigating the role of long non-coding RNAs in inhibitory synapse dysfunction and motor deficit in autism. This is a project-linked contract role, initially for one year and renewable for up to two more years after performance review.

Project focus: The work is connected to autism research, especially RNA-based therapeutic targets, inhibitory synapse dysfunction, and motor deficits. This makes the role suitable for someone who can support careful laboratory work, maintain clear records, and follow repeatable research methods.

Project investigator: The notice names Dr. Sourav Banerjee, Scientist-VI, BRIC-NBRC as the project investigator. You should keep your research background, dissertation work, techniques handled, and preferred experience ready in a short and clear format before applying.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: You need a Master's degree in Natural Sciences or MVSc from a recognised university or equivalent institution.
  • Marks: You should have at least 60% marks in the required qualification.
  • Preferred experience: Experience in animal handling, genotyping, primary neuronal culture, immunocytochemistry, or microscopy will help your application.
  • National exam link: The higher salary is for applicants who have qualified CSIR-UGC-NET, GATE, DBT/ICMR-JRF, or a similar national-level exam.

Document care: NBRC states that applications can be rejected if certificates supporting qualification and experience are missing. Make sure every claim in your form and CV has a matching self-attested document, especially marks, degree, category, national exam qualification, and lab experience. This is important because only shortlisted applicants will be called for the interview, and incomplete applications may not move forward.

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 35 years.
  • Age date: Age will be counted as on the last date of receipt of application, 10 July 2026.
  • Relaxation: The notice does not separately list category-wise age relaxation.

  • Initial tenure: The appointment is for one year.
  • Renewal: The tenure may be renewed for two more years after successful performance review.

Application Fee

  • Application fee: The notification does not mention any application fee.
  • Payment mode: No payment step is listed in the notice.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

NBRC will shortlist applications first and then call shortlisted applicants for an interview. The notice also says no TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
