NARL, located at Gadanki, Andhra Pradesh, is one of India's premier research facilities for atmospheric and space sciences. It operates high-power RADARs, LIDARs, and observational networks to study weather, climate, and the atmosphere. Through this recruitment (Advertisement No. NARL/RMT/SD&SC/01/2026), NARL is looking for PhD holders in atmospheric sciences and engineers specialising in RF/Microwave and Communication Systems.

  • Plus M.Sc. or MS in Physical Sciences/Atmospheric Sciences/Meteorology/Earth Science/Environmental Science in First Class with minimum 60% marks or equivalent CGPA.

Desirable: Expertise in air quality observations and modelling, climate modelling, parallel programming, and high-performance computing.

Scientist/Engineer SC (Post Code 02)

  • M.E./M.Tech in RF, Microwave, and Communication System Engineering in First Class with 60% marks or equivalent CGPA from a recognised university, OR
  • B.E./B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering in First Class with 65% marks or equivalent CGPA from a recognised university.

Desirable: Expertise in radar system engineering.

Note: Only Indian nationals can apply. Candidates with CGPA grades must provide the conversion factor from their university.

Age Limit

  • Scientist/Engineer SD: Maximum 35 years as on 27 April 2026.
  • Scientist/Engineer SC: Maximum 30 years as on 27 April 2026.
  • Age relaxation for SC/ST, OBC, PwBD, and Ex-Servicemen as per Government of India rules.

Salary

  • Scientist/Engineer SD: Pay Level 11 — Basic Pay Rs. 67,700 per month (Pay range: Rs. 67,700 - Rs. 2,08,700).
  • Scientist/Engineer SC: Pay Level 10 — Basic Pay Rs. 56,100 per month (Pay range: Rs. 56,100 - Rs. 1,77,500).
  • Allowances: House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Transport Allowance (TA) as admissible.
  • Employees are covered under the New Defined Contribution Pension Scheme.
  • Other benefits include medical facilities, subsidised canteen, leave travel concession, group insurance, and construction of house assistance.

Selection Process

Responsibilities

  • Conduct cutting-edge research in atmospheric sciences, weather, and climate using NARL's advanced instruments including high-power RADARs and LIDARs.
  • Develop and maintain observation systems, data acquisition software, and computational models for atmospheric research.
  • Analyse observational data and prepare research papers for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  • Design, develop, and maintain RF, microwave, and communication systems used in radar and remote sensing instruments.
  • Collaborate with national and international research teams on atmospheric and space science projects.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of field campaigns and experiments related to weather and climate research.
  • Prepare technical reports and present findings at national and international conferences.

Minimum Qualification

Ph.D. in Physics/Atmospheric Sciences/Meteorology/Earth Science/Environmental Science OR M.E./M.Tech/B.E./B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering
