Lakshadweep Development Corporation Limited (LDCL) is hiring 1 Chief Engineer (Civil) on a deputation basis. If you have a Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering and 15 years of experience (including 10 years in Harbour Engineering or port infrastructure), you can apply by post or email. LDCL Chief Engineer (Civil) Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Lakshadweep Development Corporation Limited (LDCL) is an omnibus, fully owned Government Company registered under the Companies Act, 1956, that operates 21 ships and 13 Port Control Towers on behalf of the UT of Lakshadweep Administration. The Corporation invites applications for Chief Engineer (Civil) on deputation. Preference will be given to eligible candidates from Lakshadweep. Serving Chief Engineers or officers one level below in central or state government can apply.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from a recognised University / Institution

Experience

• 15 years of experience in civil or mechanical engineering works
• Including at least 10 years in the field of Harbour Engineering, planning or construction of harbours, or maintenance and operation of different kinds of port machineries
• The incumbent should be serving as Chief Engineer or in a post one level below
• Deputation will be of officers holding analogous posts with the experience mentioned

Preference

• Preference will be given to eligible and qualified candidates from Lakshadweep

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 56 years as on 01.01.2026
• Candidates should not have been born earlier than 01.01.1970
• Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC / ST candidates
• Age may also be relaxed by the competent authority for a suitable candidate

Salary

• Level 14 of the 7th CPC
• Initial basic pay: Rs. 1,44,200 per month
• Plus DA and allowances as per central government rules
• Deputation tenure: Maximum of 3 years or until completion of the project, whichever is earlier (extendable / curtailable as per requirement)

Selection Process

The selection will be made based on prescribed qualifications, relevant experience, and performance in the interview:

1. Academic Records (40%): Minimum qualification 30% + Desirable qualification 10%
2. Work Experience (30%): Mandatory experience 15% + Desirable experience 15%
3. Personal Interview (30%): Overall personality, GK, communication skills (10%) + Knowledge of Shipping and allied subjects (20%)
4. Document Verification before the interview
5. Medical Fitness from a recognised government hospital

• Undertake and execute all port and harbour development projects as per UTLA requirements
• Manage repair and maintenance of present port infrastructure (shore and floating) through an appropriate agency
• Prepare and execute port-led development projects across the Lakshadweep islands
• Handle shoreline protection works and roads connecting to jetties on all islands
• Identify projects, conduct studies, and prepare concept notes, DPRs, and funding proposals under various government schemes
• Proof check structural designs, conduct soil investigation, architectural/landscape consultancy, and third-party quality audits
• Prepare SOPs for development of port infrastructure including port control towers and dredging plans
• Supervise any other civil works or projects handled by the Corporation
