KSRTC Swift Ltd, a company owned by the Government of Kerala, operates long-distance buses and has invited applications for Driver cum Conductor posts. Selected candidates are engaged purely on a contract basis under the pay and service terms fixed by KSRTC Swift. Vacancies are filled from a rank list valid for one year as they arise, so this is an ongoing recruitment rather than a fixed one-time number of posts. Both fresh applicants and existing KSRTC employees willing to work under KSRTC Swift's terms can apply, and some candidates may also be engaged on a daily-wage basis under the terms described in the annexure to the official notification.

If you are already a KSRTC employee, you can also apply under a working arrangement or deputation option — you would sign a separate contract with KSRTC Swift, but your regular salary would still come from KSRTC, while KSRTC Swift pays only applicable incentives, allowances, and batta. Employees with 5 or more years of experience in KSRTC get preference in this recruitment. Management may amend the detailed contract terms from time to time in the public interest, as described in the notification's annexure.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have passed 10th standard (SSLC) from a recognized board.
• License: You need a Heavy Vehicle Driving License under the MV Act 1988. If selected, you must also get a Conductor License from the Motor Vehicles Department within the given time.
• Experience: You need at least 5 years of driving experience on heavy passenger vehicles with more than 30 seats.
• Language: You should be able to read and write both Malayalam and English.
• Numeracy: You should be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide — basic arithmetic needed for conductor duties like fare collection.
• Health: You must be medically fit to work up to 10 hours as per Motor Vehicles Act rules, with health and eyesight certificates from a Civil Surgeon-rank government doctor and an eye specialist.
• Preferred: Knowledge of vehicle operations and the ability to spot and fix minor vehicle faults is an added advantage.

Age Limit

• You should be between 25 and 55 years old as on the last date for submitting your application.

Selection Process

Selection includes the following stages:

1. Shortlisting: Your application is screened and a shortlist is prepared.
2. Written Exam: Shortlisted candidates may need to appear for a written exam conducted by the selection committee, if required.
3. Driving Test: You must pass a driving test conducted by the selection committee.
4. Interview: A final interview is held for candidates who clear the driving test.

Candidates who clear all stages are placed on a rank list, valid for one year. Vacancies are filled from this list as they arise, in order of merit. Candidates with 5 or more years of experience in KSRTC get preference. After you clear the interview and get selected, you will go through a training period. Once you complete this training successfully, you are required to serve KSRTC Swift for at least 2 years (with a minimum of 240 duties per year); otherwise your security deposit will not be refunded.

If you get selected, you will need to submit a refundable security deposit of Rs. 30,000 as a demand draft in favour of the Chairman & Managing Director, KSRTC Swift, along with a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) from your local police station within 10 days. This deposit is interest-free and is held as long as you remain in service — it is returned (after deducting any damages you may have caused) when you resign or complete 56 years of age and leave temporary service. If you leave before completing 2 years of service (with at least 240 duties per year) after training, this deposit will not be refunded.
