About This Job
Indian Army is hiring through the 10+2 Technical Entry Scheme (TES-56) for the course starting January 2027. If you are an unmarried male who passed 12th with at least 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Maths AND appeared in JEE Mains 2026, you can apply online at joinindianarmy.nic.in. The last date is 12 June 2026. You will get a stipend of Rs. 56,100 per month during training and become a commissioned officer after that.
Indian Army 10+2 Technical Entry Scheme (TES-56) Recruitment 2026
The Indian Army has invited online applications for the TES-56 course starting January 2027. This is one of the few direct officer entry routes after Class 12th — you skip NDA and join the Army as a commissioned officer (Lieutenant) after 5 years of training. There is no written exam — selection is based on your 12th PCM marks, JEE Mains 2026 score, SSB Interview and medical fitness. Unmarried male 12th-pass candidates with PCM background are eligible.
Who Can Apply?
- Nationality: Unmarried male Indian citizens (or subjects of Nepal, or persons of Indian origin from specified countries with eligibility certificate).
- Qualification: Passed 10+2 / Class 12th with minimum 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM). PCM percentage is calculated to two decimal places without rounding off.
- JEE Mains 2026: You must have appeared in JEE (Mains) 2026 — this is mandatory in addition to the 60% PCM requirement.
- Marital Status: You must be unmarried and remain unmarried during the entire training period.
- Other Conditions: Should not have been debarred by UPSC, arrested, or convicted in any court case.
Age Limit
- You should be between 16 and a half years and 19 and a half years old as on the first day of the course.
- Your date of birth must fall between 02 July 2007 and 01 January 2011 (both dates inclusive).
- No age relaxation — the age limits are strict.
Salary
- During Training: Rs. 56,100 per month (stipend)
- After Commissioning as Lieutenant: Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month (Pay Level 10, 7th CPC)
- Approximate Cost To Company (CTC): Rs. 17 to 18 lakh per year as Lieutenant
- You will also get Military Service Pay, DA, allowances, free rations, free medical care, canteen facilities and pension benefits.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)
Selection happens in 4 stages:
- Shortlisting: Based on your 12th PCM marks and JEE Mains 2026 score. Cutoff is decided by the Indian Army.
- SSB Interview (5 days): Conducted at Selection Centres. Includes psychological tests, group tasks, personal interview and conference. Total 300 marks.
- Medical Examination: Done by the Special Medical Board after SSB clearance.
- Final Merit List: Prepared on the basis of SSB marks. Joining letters sent based on merit and vacancies.
Selected candidates undergo 5 years of training — 1 year of basic military training at OTA Gaya, followed by 4 years of technical training at CME Pune, MCTE Mhow or MCEME Secunderabad. After training, they are commissioned as Lieutenant with a B.Tech degree.

Responsibilities
- Lead and command troops in operational and peace-time roles after commissioning as Lieutenant
- Plan and execute technical and tactical military operations in the field
- Maintain combat readiness, weapons systems and military equipment
- Train junior soldiers and supervise daily unit activities
- Serve in any part of India, including border areas, high-altitude regions and counter-insurgency zones
- Uphold military discipline, regimental traditions and the values of the Indian Army
- Take part in technical training and earn an Engineering degree during the 5-year training period

Exam Pattern
There is no written exam for Indian Army TES-56. Selection is based on academic merit, SSB Interview and medical fitness.
