IIIT Delhi Project Scientist I Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT Delhi) is hiring a Project Scientist-I for its Signal Processing and Biomedical Imaging Laboratory (SBILab), under Prof. Anubha Gupta. This project engagement focuses on interpretable and lightweight artificial intelligence (AI) for healthcare, with an emphasis on systems that can be used in clinical settings.

SBILab brings together biomedical signal processing, medical imaging and machine learning, and this appointment sits within that shared research setting. Its emphasis on trustworthy, transparent and deployable systems gives you a clear picture of the project’s direction: connecting AI research with real clinical and healthcare use. You would join a laboratory that explicitly links its research to these practical healthcare settings.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Initial engagement: The appointment is for 11 months. You must successfully complete a one-month probation period as part of this engagement.
  • Possible extension: Further continuation depends on your performance. The notice describes an initial project appointment with the possibility of extension, so you should not treat a longer tenure as guaranteed.
  • Rolling recruitment: Hiring continues until the institute finds a suitable candidate. The notice sets no fixed calendar closing date, and the recruitment window depends on filling the position.
  • Institute rules: IIIT Delhi will follow its own hiring norms. The institute retains the final decision on the appointment and other recruitment matters under this notice.

Responsibilities

  • Build interpretable machine learning models for healthcare applications.
  • Develop explainable deep learning architectures.
  • Design lightweight AI models for healthcare use.
  • Apply signal processing methods to biomedical data.
  • Analyse medical images using machine learning methods.
  • Develop transparent AI systems to support clinical decisions.
