IIT Ropar Technical Assistant Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar) has announced a vacancy for 1 Technical Assistant on a contractual basis at its Technology Innovation Hub called AWaDH. This hub operates under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS), funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. AWaDH focuses on research and development in agriculture and water technology, and also supports technology-based start-ups working towards sustainable agriculture. This is a great opportunity for engineering graduates interested in agricultural technology and smart farming. The position is based at the IIT Ropar campus in Rupnagar, Punjab.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or in Agriculture/Horticulture/Food or allied branches.
• Minimum Marks: You must have at least 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA. For SC/ST candidates, the requirement is 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA.
• Nationality: Only Indian nationals can apply.

Preferred Background

• Good knowledge of agriculture, fisheries, or agriculture machinery
• Background in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering is preferred
• Prior industrial or research experience will give you an edge
• Practical experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks
• Hands-on experience in farming, indoor farming, or farm machinery design
• Knowledge of automation, sensors, Cyber Physical Systems, electronics, and cloud programming
• Experience in manufacturing machine tool components

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 35 years
• Age relaxation will be applicable as per Government of India rules for reserved categories.

Salary

• You will get Rs 30,000 per month plus HRA as per DST norms.
• Suitable accommodation on the IIT Ropar campus may also be provided, subject to availability.

Selection Process

The selection will involve the following stages:
