IIT Hyderabad Project Research Scientist Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad) is recruiting a Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical) for the Department of Biomedical Engineering. The time-bound appointment supports an Indian Council of Medical Research-funded project titled Ultrasound-triggered Active Drug Delivery System for Triple Negative Breast Cancer Therapy. The work sits at the meeting point of ultrasound engineering, biomedical imaging and targeted therapy research.

The project is led by Avinash Eranki and is focused on the uADD system for triple-negative breast cancer therapy. The technical profile is deliberately specialised: the scientist is expected to bring doctoral training in ultrasound and practical depth in ultrasound imaging and beamforming. Knowledge of microswimmers is preferred because it connects closely with the active drug-delivery direction described in the advertisement.

This is not a general laboratory vacancy. Your background should show that you can work with ultrasound methods at research level, interpret imaging results and contribute to a focused biomedical-engineering programme. Relevant prior work will receive preference, so your application should make the connection between your earlier projects and the advertised uADD research easy to understand.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Project appointment: The role is time-bound and tied to the ICMR-funded research project. It is not presented as a regular IIT Hyderabad staff position.
  • Specialised profile: The essential background centres on ultrasound, imaging and beamforming. Microswimmer expertise is preferred, not stated as a compulsory qualification.
  • Shortlisting: The principal investigator will review applications before inviting candidates. Only shortlisted applicants will receive interview information by email.
  • Interview communication: The interview date is not fixed in the advertisement. The team will email shortlisted candidates with a suitable date for the personal interview.
  • Vacancy discretion: The principal investigator reserves the right to change the number of openings or continue looking until a suitable researcher is found. This means meeting the minimum profile does not guarantee shortlisting.
  • Research fit: Prior work in the relevant technical areas will be preferred. Make sure your portfolio shows your own contribution to imaging, beamforming or closely related ultrasound research.
  • Work base: The appointment belongs to the Department of Biomedical Engineering at IIT Hyderabad, placing the selected researcher within the institute's project environment in Telangana.

Application Submission Notes

Apply by email to manikyam.j@bme.iith.ac.in. The advertisement asks for your CV and a relevant portfolio so the project team can shortlist applicants for interview; there is no separate online form linked in the notice.

Use the portfolio to show the ultrasound methods you have handled, the imaging or beamforming problems you worked on and how your work relates to biomedical applications. Keep the material focused on the advertised project rather than sending an unrelated publication list. You may also use the same email address for clarification from the principal investigator.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and carry out ultrasound experiments for the active drug-delivery project
  • Develop and test ultrasound imaging and beamforming methods
  • Analyse imaging and experimental data for the breast-cancer therapy study
  • Document methods, results and technical decisions for project records
  • Coordinate research tasks with the principal investigator and biomedical engineering team
  • Prepare clear research updates, figures and material for reports or publications
