Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) Engineer Trainee (Electronics) Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
The Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), an autonomous body under the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, has invited applications for 1 Engineer Trainee (Electronics) post at its Vainu Bappu Observatory (VBO), Kavalur field station in the Javadi Hills of Tamil Nadu. VBO is home to the 2.3-metre Vainu Bappu Telescope, along with the 1.3m J.C. Bhattacharya Telescope and the 40-inch Carl Zeiss Telescope — instruments that astronomers have used for decades to study Be stars, blazars and supernovae. IIA also runs research campuses at Koramangala (Bengaluru), Hosakote, Kodaikanal, Gauribidanur and Leh/Hanle. There's no separate written exam — eligible candidates can walk straight into the interview, though IIA may hold a written screening test if too many candidates turn up. This is a good opportunity for fresh electronics engineering graduates to get hands-on experience maintaining and upgrading real observatory instrumentation.
