PAU RGR Cell Field Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Reviving Green Revolution Cell (RGR Cell), which works closely with Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, is hiring a Field Assistant through PAU's recruitment page. The job sits inside a Tata Steel Foundation funded project called the Farmers Capacity Building Program on Agriculture and Livestock, which covers 15 villages around the Cycle Valley area of Ludhiana.

RGR Cell grew out of the Reviving Green Revolution Initiative that Tata Trusts started in 2002 to push crop diversification and better farm incomes in Punjab and Tamil Nadu. The cell was set up in Ludhiana in 2008 and works with PAU, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), the Department of Agriculture and the state governments to take university-tested farm practices to villages. This is a project-based field job, not a regular PAU university post.

If you hold an agriculture degree, enjoy village fieldwork and can talk easily with farmers in Punjabi and Hindi, this role puts you right at the centre of farm extension work in Ludhiana district.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Employer: The hiring body is RGR Cell, a non-government organisation that partners with PAU. The vacancy is listed on PAU's website, but you will work for the RGR Cell project team.
• Work area: You will be based in Ludhiana and travel regularly to the 15 project villages.
• Travel and hours: The job needs extensive field travel, and you should be ready to work extended hours and on weekends when the project needs it. Travel costs are paid on actual basis.
• Languages: You need good spoken and written English, Punjabi and Hindi to work with farmers, officials and the project team.
• Preference: Candidates with higher degrees or past work in agriculture-based programmes get preference, along with a track record of meeting targets and handling field data.
• Reporting: You will support the Area Manager and coordinate with KVKs, the Punjab Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, and the agriculture universities.

• Visit the project villages regularly and plan, run and monitor field activities as per the work plan
• Study changing farm practices and technologies in the villages, spot gaps and suggest ways to raise yield and profit
• Supervise, measure and record crop and technology demonstrations and other extension activities
• Share information on new crop varieties, hybrids, better inputs and technologies that suit the local area
• Identify farmer training needs, prepare training material and conduct trainings, exposure visits and workshops
• Maintain the MIS, registers and project documents, and prepare case studies of best practices
• Help the Area Manager and team prepare the physical work plan
