RIMS Imphal Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, the medical college and teaching hospital in Manipur that works under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, is hiring Assistant Professors in Dermatology and Psychiatry. Each department gets one regular Group A faculty post, and both posts are unreserved (UR).

If you hold a recognised MD in the subject and have already taught as a Resident, Registrar, Demonstrator or Tutor in a recognised medical college, this is a chance to move into a permanent faculty job. Applications are accepted online only, and shortlisted candidates are called for an interview at the institute.

Posts and Disciplines

• Dermatology: a faculty post in the Department of Dermatology, open to MD holders in Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy (in any of the recognised combinations) and to MD Medicine holders with a DVD or DD diploma.
• Psychiatry: a faculty post in the Department of Psychiatry, open to MD holders in Psychiatry or Psychological Medicine and to MD Medicine holders with a Diploma in Psychological Medicine.

For both posts, the teaching experience must be in the same subject you are applying for.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Unreserved posts: OBC, SC and ST candidates can apply, but they get no category-based age relaxation because both posts are UR.
• Cut-off for eligibility: your qualification and experience are judged as on the closing date of the application window.
• Date of birth: RIMS accepts only the date recorded in your Matriculation/Secondary certificate, and later requests to change it are not considered.
• Provisional certificates: a provisional certificate older than one year from the closing date is not accepted.
• NOC for serving employees: if you work in a government, semi-government, PSU or autonomous body, attach a No Objection Certificate or proof that you have applied for one. Not producing the NOC by the interview cancels your candidature.
• Fee refund: the fee is refunded only if the recruitment itself is cancelled.
• Institute's rights: RIMS may amend or cancel the advertisement, and its decision on shortlisting and selection is final. Canvassing leads to disqualification.
