Selection Process
You will go through a two-stage selection. Stage I is a Computer Based Test (CBT) with 100 objective questions worth 100 marks. You need at least 50% marks to qualify (45% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates). The CBT is qualifying in nature, meaning your final selection depends entirely on your Stage II Interview conducted by ICMR in New Delhi. Preparation Tips for ICMR Scientist-B Exam
- Focus on Research Methodology — all 100 questions come from research-related subjects including biostatistics, diagnostics, and bioethics
- Cover communicable and non-communicable diseases — these are core ICMR domains and carry significant weightage
- Brush up on Reproductive & Child Nutrition — a dedicated topic area in the syllabus
- Practice logical reasoning and English aptitude — General Knowledge and language sections are also included
- Watch the negative marking — each wrong answer deducts 1/3 of a mark, so avoid random guessing
- Take timed mock tests — you need to answer 100 questions accurately within the allotted time
