Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), under the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has released Advertisement No. ICMR/Rectt/CRMCH/01/2026-RPCell for scientific positions. The vacancies are for haemoglobinopathy research work at CRMCH, New Chandrapur under ICMR-NIIH Mumbai, with all India transfer liability under the Council. This is a direct recruitment notice for medical and non-medical scientists.

Who Can Apply?

Scientist-C (Non-Medical)

• Qualification: Master's degree from a recognised university in a subject related to Biomedical Sciences, or Pharm-D recognised by UGC/PCI.
• Experience: You need 4 years of relevant experience.
• Desirable: Ph.D. in a Biomedical Sciences related subject and translational research experience such as drug efficacy testing, humanized mouse models, or organoids.

Scientist-B (Medical)

• Qualification: MBBS or equivalent degree recognised by MCI/NMC.
• Experience: No essential experience is required.
• Desirable: Experience in clinical research and managing patients with haemoglobinopathies.

Scientist-B (Non-Medical)

• Qualification: Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences related subject, or Pharm-D recognised by UGC/PCI.
• Experience: No essential experience is required.
• Desirable: Experience in microbiology, immunology, immunogenetics, molecular biology, next generation sequencing, multiomics, or biochemistry.

Experience notes: ICMR will count Ph.D. as 4 years experience and MD/MS or equivalent as 3 years experience. MPH, M.Tech, and ME will not be counted as experience for this notice. The period spent only to get the minimum essential qualification will not count as experience.

Age Limit

• Scientist-C: Maximum age is 40 years.
• Scientist-B: Maximum age is 35 years.
• Age Relaxation: Government of India age relaxation instructions apply. ICMR may also relax age for exceptionally strong candidates with approval.

Salary

• Scientist-C (Non-Medical): Level-11, Rs. 67,700 to Rs. 2,08,700 per month.
• Scientist-B (Medical/Non-Medical): Level-10, Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month.
• Selected candidates will also get allowances as admissible under ICMR/Central Government rules.

Selection Process

The selection may be done through computer based test, interview, or both.

1. Eligibility Screening: ICMR first checks age, qualification, experience, and uploaded documents.
2. Computer Based Test: If conducted, the CBT will have MCQs based on understanding of research methods. It is qualifying in nature, with minimum qualifying level of 75 percentile.
3. Shortlisting: If many candidates qualify, ICMR may shortlist further based on higher relevant experience or higher qualification.
4. Interview: Shortlisted candidates may be called for interview or personal discussion.
5. Document Verification: Final appointment depends on verification of documents and eligibility.
6. NOC Check: Applicants working in government, PSU, or government-funded research agencies must produce a No Objection Certificate when called.
