ICAR-CIFE Young Professional-II Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE), a Deemed University under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, has announced recruitment for the post of Young Professional-II (YP-II) under the project 'Characterization of Seaweed Diversity, Nutritional Benefits, and Conservation Strategies along the Maharashtra Coast'. The position is purely contractual for a maximum of three years from the date of appointment. Candidates with knowledge of DNA Barcoding and Molecular Markers will be preferred.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification

• Master's degree in Fisheries Science with specialization in Fish Biotechnology or Fisheries Resources Management, OR
• M.Sc in Life Sciences or Plant Sciences with specialization in Biotechnology
• You must have First Division or 60% marks or equivalent OGPA in Master's degree
• Application must be supported by a Final Degree Certificate or Provisional Degree Certificate

Desirable

• Technical knowledge of DNA Barcoding and Molecular Markers

Age Limit

• Minimum age: 21 years
• Maximum age: 45 years
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates as per GOI norms — relevant certificates must be submitted with the application

Salary

• Monthly emolument: Rs. 42,000 (Fixed)
• The stipend is consolidated and fixed — no additional allowances such as DA or HRA are paid
• Tenure and service conditions are governed by ICAR guidelines for Young Professionals

Selection Process (Interview Only)

Selection is purely through interview — there is no written exam.

1. Application Screening: Only candidates who fulfil all the eligibility conditions will be invited for the online interview
2. Hybrid Mode Interview: Scheduled on 18 May 2026 at 11:30 AM at ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai (Yari Road Campus). Online candidates must be present 10 minutes before the scheduled time and wait to be admitted by the admin
3. Final Selection: Based on academic performance, research experience, and performance during the interview

The decision of the Director, ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai will be final and binding.

• Conduct field surveys along the Maharashtra coast for seaweed diversity studies
• Perform DNA barcoding and molecular marker analysis of seaweed samples
• Assist the Principal Investigator with project planning, data collection, and execution
• Maintain laboratory records, sample inventories, and project documentation
• Prepare technical reports, research papers, and presentations
• Operate molecular biology equipment and follow lab safety protocols
• Coordinate with project team members and report progress to the PI regularly
