ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education (ICAR-CIFE), located at Panch Marg, Versova, Andheri West in Mumbai, is a Deemed University under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and one of India's premier institutes for fisheries education and research. It is looking for 1 Senior Research Fellow (SRF) for its project under the ICAR-National Agricultural Science Fund (NASF). This is a contractual research position, with the place of work at ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai. There is no written exam - candidates are shortlisted by screening applications and then called for a Hybrid Mode interview. This is a good opportunity if you have a post-graduate degree in fisheries or aquaculture-related subjects and want to build your research career at a premier ICAR institute.

Who Can Apply?

• Essential Qualification: M.F.Sc / M.Sc / M.Tech in Aquaculture, Agriculture/Zoology, Life Science, or Agricultural Engineering from a recognized university.
• Additional Requirement: You must also have qualified NET, GATE, or an equivalent national-level exam (CSIR-UGC/ICMR/DST/DBT-BET/ICAR).
• Desirable Qualification: Academic background in Fisheries Science, Aquaculture, Aquaponics, or Recirculating Aquaculture Systems. Aquaponics work experience is preferred.

If you already work for the Central or State Government, a Government Public Undertaking, or any similar organization, you can still apply, but you will need to submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your employer.

Age Limit

• You should be below 35 years (men) or below 40 years (women) as on the closing date of application.
• Age Relaxation: Available for SC/ST/OBC and Divyaang (PwBD) candidates as per government rules.
• If you are claiming age relaxation, send the relevant category or age-relaxation certificate along with your application.

Salary

• You will get a monthly stipend of Rs. 37,000 (1st and 2nd year), rising to Rs. 42,000 (3rd and 4th year), plus 24% House Rent Allowance (HRA).
• The tenure and service conditions for this SRF position are governed by ICAR guidelines.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection happens in 2 stages:

1. Screening of Applications: Your application is checked for eligibility based on qualification and age criteria.
2. Hybrid Mode Interview: Shortlisted candidates are informed by email or phone and interviewed on 3 September 2026 at ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the interview. Your original certificates and degrees will be verified before the interview.
