ICAR-CIFE Young Professional Recruitment 2026: Overview

ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education (ICAR-CIFE), the Mumbai-based deemed university of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, is hiring Young Professional-I and Young Professional-II for its Finance and Accounts Section. Both are temporary, contract-based roles linked to the institute's schemes and projects, not regular government posts. Selection happens through a hybrid-mode interview, so there is no written test to clear. If you are a commerce or business graduate with good marks and some hands-on accounts experience, this is a practical way to get public-sector finance work on your CV.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Young Professional-I (YP-I): the project-accounts role. You work on the books of ICAR-funded and externally funded research projects, and a B.Com, BBA or BBS with relevant experience is the base requirement.
  • Young Professional-II (YP-II): the institute-accounts role, covering the regular finance work of ICAR-CIFE itself. It asks for more: a commerce degree plus an intermediate pass in CA, ICWA or CS, or an MBA in Finance.
  • Added advantage for both: working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Tally and virtual meeting platforms gives you an edge, though it is not compulsory.

Post-wise Duties

Young Professional-I

You will keep project-wise accounts for every ICAR-funded and externally funded project, tracking money received, money spent and the balance left under each one. You will file vouchers project by project, prepare Utilisation Certificates (UCs) and expenditure statements, and put together project financial statements. During audits you help with the financial scrutiny and settle project-related queries, and you keep the digital expense records current.

Young Professional-II

You will look after the institute's day-to-day accounts. That means updating the Institute Cash Book and the Voucher Register, handling PFMS and PFMS Hybrid work, and preparing the monthly Bank Reconciliation Statement (BRS). You will also upload and update NPS data and maintain the section's financial records in Excel sheets.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Contract only: Both posts are purely contractual, time-bound and co-terminus with the scheme, project or work requirement they are filled for.
  • Tenure: You are first engaged for one year. It can be renewed year by year up to three years in all, or until the project ends, whichever comes first.
  • No regularisation: The engagement gives you no claim to a regular or permanent job in ICAR or any of its institutes and centres.
  • Termination: ICAR-CIFE can end the contract without notice or reason if your work is unsatisfactory, or if you break conduct and discipline rules or hide facts.
  • Shortlisting: Only candidates who meet every condition are called for interview, and the decision of the Director, ICAR-CIFE is final.
  • Schedule changes: The interview can be postponed, rescheduled or cancelled. The institute says it will inform candidates on priority, so keep checking your email.

Application Submission Notes

There is no online form for these posts. Email your application to the CIFE Audit Section at audit@cife.edu.in. The interview takes place in hybrid mode from 11:00 AM onwards at the ICAR-CIFE New Campus, Yari Road, Versova, Mumbai.
