ICAR-CIFE JRF Recruitment 2026: Overview

ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education (ICAR-CIFE), a deemed university under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, is hiring a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) at its Versova campus in Mumbai. The post sits under a CSIR-supported project titled "Characterization and Utilization of Sulfated Polysaccharides Extracted from Red Seaweed, Gracilaria spp., Co-cultured with Penaeus vannamei".

In simple terms, the project grows red seaweed alongside Pacific white shrimp and studies the useful compounds the seaweed produces. This is a temporary, project-linked fellowship, not a regular job. It suits you if you have a master's in aquaculture, fisheries, marine biology or a life-science subject and want hands-on research experience.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The fellowship ends when the project ends. The project runs from July 2024 to July 2027, and an extension up to July 2028 has been applied for.
• Rules: Tenure and service terms follow ICAR guidelines for JRFs.
• NET condition: You must meet the CSIR NET eligibility set for JRF in the project sanction and recruitment rules.
• No side jobs: You cannot take up any other job or work during the project without written permission from the Project PI.
• Place of work: ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai.
• Shortlisting: Only candidates who meet every eligibility condition are called for the interview, and final choice rests with the Director, ICAR-CIFE.
