HPPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 — 369 Vacancies

HPPSC is hiring 369 Assistant Professors (College Cadre) across 22 subjects for government colleges in Himachal Pradesh. Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 - 369 Posts

The Department of Higher Education, Himachal Pradesh has asked HPPSC to fill 369 Assistant Professor (College Cadre) posts across 22 subjects including English, Chemistry, Hindi, Physics, Mathematics, Commerce, History, Sociology, Political Science, Botany, Zoology and more. HPPSC released these as 22 parallel subject-wise advertisements (Advertisement Nos. 34/6-2026 to 55/6-2026) and has since extended the last date to apply from 14 July to 15 August 2026. If you have a postgraduate degree and NET/SET/SLET qualification in your subject, this is one of the biggest college teaching recruitment drives in Himachal Pradesh this year.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: Master's Degree in the relevant subject with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD) from a recognized university.
• Qualifying Exam: You must have cleared NET/SLET/SET, or hold a Ph.D. awarded as per UGC regulations (regular mode, evaluated by two external examiners, with an open viva-voce and at least two published research papers).
• Ph.D. holders who meet the above conditions are exempted from the NET/SLET/SET requirement.
• You must choose the specific subject advertisement that matches your postgraduate specialization — each subject has its own advertisement number and requires a separate application.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 45 years old as on 1 January 2026.
• Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST/OBC, Women Freedom Fighters and PwBD candidates of Himachal Pradesh, where the post is reserved for that category.

Salary

• Selected candidates join as Job Trainees at a fixed consolidated pay of Rs. 35,000 per month, uniform across all 22 subjects.
• You will get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Himachal Pradesh government rules after regularization.

Application Fee

• All categories: Rs. 600 per subject applied.
• You need a separate application and separate fee payment for each subject you apply to.

Selection Process

Selection is done in 3 stages:

1. Paper-I Screening Test (100 marks): Qualifying in nature — does not count towards merit. Candidates scoring zero or negative marks are excluded.
2. Paper-II Subject Aptitude Test (120 marks): Tests your knowledge of the subject you applied for.
3. Personality Test (30 marks): Conducted for candidates who qualify Paper-II.

Final Merit: Based on Paper-II + Personality Test marks (150 marks total). Paper-I marks are not counted towards the final merit list.

How to Apply

1. Go to hppsc.hp.gov.in and click "Apply Online".
2. Complete One Time Registration (OTR) if you are a new user.
3. Log in to your OTR account and select the live advertisement for your subject.
4. Fill in the application form and upload your documents and photograph.
5. Pay the Rs. 600 application fee online.
6. Submit the form and save a copy for your records.
