Hooghly Cochin Shipyard Limited (Vacancy Notification No. HCSL/HR/RECTT/CONT/2026-27/2 dated 20 May 2026), a wholly owned subsidiary of Cochin Shipyard Limited, has released notification for 1 Nursing Assistant-Cum-First Aider post on contract basis at Howrah. The contract is for a maximum period of three years subject to project requirements and performance. Ex-Servicemen with a valid first aid certificate are also eligible.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification (Any One)

• 7th Standard pass + Valid First Aid Certificate from any Recognised Institution, OR
• VHSE Domestic Nursing, OR
• General Duty Assistant QP No. HSS/Q5101 NSQF Level 4

Desirable Qualification

• Adequate knowledge of Bengali (work location is Howrah, West Bengal)
• Work experience as Nursing Assistant / First Aider

Note: Apprenticeship in the relevant area shall also be considered as experience. Ex-Servicemen with valid first aid certificate are eligible.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 30 years as on 9 June 2026 (born on or after 10 June 1996)
• Ex-Servicemen and PwBD: Maximum age 40 years as per Government of India guidelines
• PwBD Minimum Disability: 40%

Salary

• 1st Year: Consolidated pay Rs. 22,100 per month + Rs. 5,530 for extra hours
• 2nd Year: Consolidated pay Rs. 22,800 per month + Rs. 5,700 for extra hours
• 3rd Year: Consolidated pay Rs. 23,400 per month + Rs. 5,850 for extra hours
• Other benefits: Contributory Provident Fund, Medical Allowances, Accident Insurance coverage, Cashless Medical Facility and reimbursement of medical expenses

Application Fee

• General / OBC / EWS: Rs. 300 (Non-refundable, plus bank charges extra)
• SC / ST / PwBD: No fee (exempted)
• Payment Mode: Online only (Debit Card / Credit Card / Net Banking / Wallet / UPI)

Selection Process

The selection will be conducted in the following stages, total 100 marks:

1. Objective Type Written Test: 30 MCQs in 35 minutes for 30 marks - General (10 marks) + Discipline related (20 marks). No negative marking.
2. Practical Test: 70 marks - tests practical first-aid and nursing skills
3. Certificate Verification: Original documents verification before tests
4. Medical Examination: Final fitness check at the time of joining

Minimum Pass Marks:

• Unreserved Candidates: 50% of total marks in each test
• PwBD Candidates: 40% of total marks in each test

Tests will be conducted at Hooghly CSL, Howrah. In case of equal aggregate marks, seniority in age decides the relative merit.

• Provide first aid and basic nursing care to workers at the Hooghly Cochin Shipyard premises
• Handle minor injuries, wound dressing, and emergency response on the shipyard floor
• Maintain proper records of medicines, first aid stock, and patient health logs
• Assist the medical officer or visiting doctor during health check-ups and emergencies
• Monitor health and safety of workers in production and assembly areas
• Manage the first-aid room and ensure all medical supplies are stocked
• Work in shifts including extra hours as per project requirements
• Follow shipyard safety guidelines and occupational health protocols
