NIT Durgapur RA and JRF Recruitment 2026: Overview
National Institute of Technology Durgapur (NIT Durgapur) is recruiting a Research Associate III and a Junior Research Fellow for a Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology project on human-resource development in Unmanned Aircraft Systems. The work sits in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering and brings together aerodynamics, embedded systems, control, robotics and sensing. This is a hands-on drone-technology research assignment, so the roles suit engineers who want to connect simulation with system development.
Posts and Disciplines
- Research Associate III: the senior research role is meant for a PhD-level engineer who can take ownership of fundamental research, simulation and system-development activities. The accepted backgrounds span aerospace, electronics and communication, electrical, mechanical and instrumentation engineering.
- Junior Research Fellow: the fellow will support the same project through modelling, experiments, design work and research documentation. Applicants may come from the listed engineering disciplines with the required academic record and GATE qualification.
Post-wise Duties
Research Associate III
You will play a major role in planning and driving the project's technical research. The work can involve mechanical mechanisms, structural or fluid mechanics, aeromechanics, flight dynamics, vibration, mechatronics, control systems, embedded systems, hardware-software co-design, robotics, sensors, actuators and transducers. You will also turn results into technical records and research outputs that the project team can review.
Junior Research Fellow
You will help build and test simulation and system-development workflows for unmanned aircraft technology. Depending on the assigned problem, you may support modelling, component integration, sensor or actuator work, data analysis, experimental logs and project reports. You will work with the investigators and the Research Associate while developing independent research skills.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Tenure: both positions are purely temporary and continue until 31 March 2028 or completion of the project, whichever comes first.
- Performance review: an internal committee will review performance every six months, and continuation depends on its recommendation.
- Institutional status: selection does not create a right to regular appointment or absorption at NIT Durgapur.
- Citizenship: the positions are open only to Indian citizens.
- Interview cost: the institute will not pay TA or DA for attending an interview.
- Screening: the institute may limit the number called for interview and may leave a post unfilled if no suitable person is found.
Application Submission Notes
Applications are accepted through a separate Google Form for each post. RA-III applicants should use the RA-III form, while JRF applicants should use the JRF form. Incomplete or late forms will not be considered, and shortlisted names will be posted on the institute website before hybrid interviews are arranged.
