NIT Durgapur Multi-Post Recruitment 2026: Overview
National Institute of Technology Durgapur (NIT Durgapur) is hiring a Technical Assistant and a Research Associate I for a Department of Biotechnology funded project in its Department of Chemical Engineering. The work brings together carbon dioxide capture, microalgal solvent regeneration and lycopene production using Dunaliella salina. You would join a project team developing an integrated pilot-scale platform for bio-regenerative carbon dioxide sequestration.

- Technical Assistant: This role supports the laboratory and pilot plant side of the project at NIT Durgapur.
- Research Associate I: This is the research role within the same Chemical Engineering project, which connects biological work with the carbon capture platform.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Project tenure: The appointment lasts up to two years or until the project ends, whichever comes first. Your continuation depends on performance reviews held every six months.
- Joining: You must be ready to join immediately after receiving an offer.
- Travel costs: The institute will not pay travel or daily allowances for attending the interview.

Responsibilities
- Support routine laboratory work as Technical Assistant.
- Prepare samples for laboratory work.
- Prepare media and reagents for experiments.
- Maintain sensors used in the project.
- Handle and operate the pilot plant.
- Keep laboratory and operational records.
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Technical Assistant: BE/BTech in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, MSc in Biotechnology, Botany or Chemistry, or a three-year Engineering and Technology diploma with two years of experience, or equivalent, from a recognized institution. Minimum 6.0 CGPA or 55% marks. Research Associate I: PhD or equivalent in Biotechnology or Biological Sciences from a reputed institution.
Preferred Qualification
Research Associate I: Research exposure to Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry, spectrophotometer handling and basic modelling, with at least one SCI journal research paper.
Required Skills
Research Associate I: Expertise in cell culture, image analysis, advanced molecular cell biology and biochemical techniques.
