GSSSB is hiring 82 Municipal Accountants (Class-3) for municipalities across Gujarat under the Urban Development and Urban Housing Department. The Gujarat Subordinate Services Selection Board (GSSSB), under Advertisement No. 450/2026-27, has released the notification for 82 Municipal Accountant, Class-3 posts in the Commissionerate of Municipality Administration office under the Urban Development and Urban Housing Department. These posts are spread across municipalities all over Gujarat and will be filled through direct recruitment based on a competitive exam. Reservation benefits are available only to candidates of Gujarat origin belonging to SC, ST, SEBC and EWS categories. Out of the total 82 posts, 8 posts are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). Reservation and age-relaxation benefits apply only to candidates of Gujarat origin belonging to the reserved categories.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Applications, Commerce, Science (Mathematics/Statistics) or Arts (Statistics/Economics/Mathematics) from a recognised university. B.Sc.(CA & IT) and M.Sc.(CA & IT) degree holders are not eligible for this post.
• Language: You must have adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi (or both).
• Computer Knowledge: Basic computer knowledge is required — a certificate/diploma/degree in computer operations, or Computer as a subject in Class 10, Class 12 or graduation. If you don't have this yet, you can submit proof before appointment.
• Nationality: You must be a citizen of India as per the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment Rules.

Age Limit

• You should be between 20 and 35 years old as on 21 August 2026.
• Age Relaxation: General category women get 5 years (up to 40); Reserved category (SC/ST/SEBC) men get 5 years (up to 40); Reserved category women get 10 years (up to 45).
• PwBD Candidates: General category disabled men get 10 years and disabled women 15 years; Reserved category disabled men get 15 years and disabled women 20 years (all capped at a maximum age of 45 years).
• Ex-Servicemen: Get relaxation equal to their period of armed forces service plus 3 years.

Salary

• You will get a fixed monthly pay of Rs. 49,600 for the first five years of service.
• After five years of satisfactory service, you will be placed in the regular Pay Level-7 (Rs. 39,900 - Rs. 1,26,600) as per the state's Revised Pay Rules (ROP-2016).

Application Fee

• Preliminary Exam Fee — Unreserved: Rs. 500; Reserved (women of all categories, SC/ST/SEBC/EWS/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen): Rs. 400
• Main Exam Fee (payable later, only if you are shortlisted) — Unreserved: Rs. 600; Reserved: Rs. 500
• Only the Preliminary Exam fee needs to be paid now, online, by 23 August 2026. The fee is refunded to candidates who appear for the exam.
• Payment mode: Debit card, net banking, UPI or wallet, plus applicable transaction charges.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in these stages:

1. Preliminary Examination (Objective): 150 marks on General Studies, in 2 hours. This is only a screening test — your marks are not counted for the final merit list. You need at least 40% marks to qualify.
2. Main Examination (Descriptive): About 7 times the vacancies are shortlisted for this stage. It has two papers of 100 marks each — Gujarati & English Language, and Accountancy & Auditing — 3 hours each. You need at least 40% marks in each paper.
3. Document Verification: Based on your Main Exam merit, you will need to produce original certificates.

Final merit is based only on your Main Examination marks. A negative marking of 0.25 marks applies for each wrong answer in the Preliminary Exam.

4. Fill in your Personal Details and Educational Details.
5. Accept the declaration and save your application to generate your application number.
6. Upload your photograph and signature in the specified format.
7. Confirm your application to get your confirmation number, then pay the exam fee online.
8. Print your application form for your records.
