Who Can Apply?

How Many Posts Are There?

There are a total of 25 Gujarati Stenographer Grade-3 posts split across two cadres. You need to indicate your preferred cadre at the time of application.

Salary Details

Here is how your pay works for this post. For the first 5 years, you receive a fixed consolidated salary. After regularization (on completion of 5 years of satisfactory service), your pay moves to the 7th Pay Commission matrix.

For the first 5 years, your take-home will be based on the Rs. 26,000/month fixed salary. After regularization, allowances like DA and HRA are added on top of basic pay, which can increase your total salary considerably. The exact in-hand amount after deductions will depend on your applicable tax slab and other statutory deductions.

Selection Process

Selection happens in three stages. You must clear each stage to proceed to the next one.

1. Stage 1 — Qualifying Shorthand Test (Layki Pariksha): Gujarati shorthand dictation at 60 words per minute for 2 minutes (1 paragraph), followed by handwritten transcription at 7 words per minute. This stage is qualifying in nature only — the marks are not counted in your final merit score. Only candidates who pass this test move on to the Main Examination.
2. Stage 2 — Main Examination (Written Exam): A descriptive and analytical paper on Gujarati Language Proficiency and Computer Knowledge. Total marks: 100. Duration: 2 hours. Minimum passing marks: 40 out of 100 (for all categories — no relaxation below 40 marks).
3. Stage 3 — Skill Test (Kaushalya Kasoti): Shorthand dictation and computer transcription using Gujarati Indic Input 3. Total marks: 100. Minimum qualifying marks: 50 out of 100.

Your final merit is based on the combined total of Stage 2 + Stage 3 (200 marks total). You must separately clear the minimum marks in both Stage 2 and Stage 3. Selection lists are prepared cadre-wise (Sachivalaya or HOD) based on merit and category.

• Note the error penalty in Paper 2: 1 mark is deducted for every 3 errors. Aim for accuracy over raw speed during transcription — too many mistakes will hurt your score.
