The Meghalaya Basin Development Authority (MBDA) is hiring 2 Technical Specialists — one for UAV/Drone operations and one for GIS (Geographic Information Systems) — on a contract basis in Shillong. Meghalaya Basin Development Authority (MBDA) Technical Specialist Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts

MBDA has issued an advertisement and notification for 2 Technical Specialist posts — Technical Specialist (UAV) and Technical Specialist (GIS) — to support its geospatial mapping and land administration work. Both posts are based in Shillong and are offered on a one-year renewable contract, subject to your performance and the continuation of the project you are engaged with. Candidates with strong drone operation, remote sensing, or GIS mapping experience who want to work on land administration and infrastructure planning projects in Meghalaya should apply. Staff already working with MBDA/MBMA can also apply if otherwise eligible, though their applications must be routed through their reporting officer, and newly appointed staff must complete at least one year in their current position before applying. Meghalaya citizens residing outside the state with relevant expertise and experience are also encouraged to apply.

Who Can Apply?

For Technical Specialist - UAV:

• Qualification: Post Graduate in Technology, UAV Remote Sensing, Aviation, or Aeronautical Engineering from a recognized institution, or a related field. A UAV/Drone Pilot License from a recognised institute is mandatory.
• Experience: At least 3 years of experience in UAV/drone operations, aerial surveying, or related fields, including flight planning, GNSS systems, and data processing tools such as Pix4D, DroneDeploy, or Agisoft.
• Skills: Familiarity with DGCA regulations and flight safety protocols, plus good communication, decision-making, and computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Advanced Exposure: Experience with multi-sensor UAV payloads (LiDAR, photogrammetry, RGB/multispectral), integration with GNSS-based positioning systems for high-precision data acquisition, and contribution to large-scale geospatial initiatives covering more than 100 sq. km.

For Technical Specialist - GIS:

• Qualification: Post Graduate in Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, Geography, Geology, Environmental Science, Forestry, or a related field. An M.Tech and IT knowledge are preferred.
• Experience: At least 5 years of experience in GIS and remote sensing management and mapping, including spatial analysis, cadastral mapping, and use of tools like ArcGIS, QGIS, Pix4Dmapper, and Global Mapper.
• Skills: Strong analytical and negotiation skills, along with the common computer skills required for both posts.
• Technical Work: Digitizing cadastral maps, integrating land records with GIS-based land information systems, GPS/GNSS-based field data collection, ground verification, and parcel boundary validation.

Age Limit

• You should be up to 45 years old to apply for either post.

Salary

• Both posts carry a monthly emolument of Rs. 46,800 plus allowances as admissible.
• You will also get House Rent Allowance (HRA) as admissible from time to time.
• The contract is for 1 year, renewable based on your performance and continuation of the project.

Selection Process

MBDA will select candidates through these stages:

1. Written Test: Covers Subject Matter Knowledge, General Knowledge, Reasoning, and English. Held only in Shillong.
2. Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates are interviewed, also in Shillong.

A few things to keep in mind about the process:

• If you are currently employed, you must submit a No Objection Certificate from your employer when called for interview.
• No TA/DA is paid for attending the written test or interview.
• MBDA may restrict interview calls to a reasonable number of candidates with qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed.
• MBDA reserves the right to extend the closing date, and to fill or not fill any of the positions advertised.
• Information about the screening test, written exam, and interview will be sent only to shortlisted candidates via SMS or email — the shortlist will also be displayed on the MBDA website and office notice board.
• Canvassing of any kind will lead to disqualification.
