The National Games Secretariat (NGS), Government of Meghalaya is hiring 70 Managers, Assistant Managers and Executives on contract to help organise the 39th National Games 2027. The engagement is purely contractual for 10 months, extendable by up to 1 year, with a fixed monthly salary ranging from Rs. 26,000 to Rs. 39,000.

The Government of Meghalaya is hosting the historic 39th National Games in 2027 — the first time the state has hosted this multi-sport, multi-venue event. To build a professional workforce for planning, coordination and execution of the Games, the National Games Secretariat (NGS) has released a notice inviting applications for 70 contractual positions across 12 functional areas including Accommodation, Catering, Transportation, Medical, Security & Protocol, Event Operations, Volunteers Management, Project Coordination, Marketing & PR, IT & Communication, and Finance & Administration. This is one of the largest one-time contractual hiring drives undertaken by a state sports body in the North-East, reflecting the scale of preparation needed to host a national multi-sport event of this size. Preference will be given to local candidates from Meghalaya who meet the eligibility criteria, and selected candidates may be deployed across the three host clusters — Shillong, Tura and Jowai.
Vacancy Breakdown by Position
- Manager: 12 posts — 1 each in Accommodation, Catering, Transportation, Medical, Security & Protocol, Accreditation, Event Operations, Volunteers Management, Project Coordination, Marketing & PR, Finance & Accounts, and General Administration & Procurement
- Assistant Manager: 15 posts — including 3 in Event Operations and 1 each in Accommodation, Catering, Transportation, Medical, Security & Protocol, Accreditation, Volunteers Management, Project Coordination, IT & Communication, Marketing & PR, Finance & Accounts, and General Administration & Procurement
- Executive: 43 posts spread across the same functional areas, with the largest share in Event Operations, Volunteers Management and Accommodation
Who Can Apply?

For Manager (Rs. 39,000/month):
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline (Commerce/Finance/Accounting/Law required for Finance and Procurement roles)
- Preference for a Post Graduate Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Sports Management, Business Administration or Project Management
- At least 2 years of prior work experience in managing sports events or related administrative fields
For Assistant Manager (Rs. 31,200/month):
- Graduation degree in the respective field or general streams; preference for post-graduates or candidates with certifications in Sports Management
- At least 1 year of relevant work experience post-graduation
For Executive (Rs. 26,000/month):
- Graduate degree in relevant streams (Commerce/Finance/Accounting/Law required for Finance and Procurement roles)
- Freshers can apply — prior experience is not mandatory, but earns extra marks in shortlisting
All candidates must be able to draft formal correspondence with accuracy and demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills with fluency in English. Knowledge of local Meghalaya languages is an added advantage. Work experience is counted only if it was acquired after completing graduation — internships and volunteering do not count.
Age Limit
- You should not be more than 40 years old as on 8 July 2026 (the date of this Notice).
- This age limit applies to all three posts — Manager, Assistant Manager and Executive.
Salary
- Manager: Rs. 39,000 per month (fixed contractual remuneration)
- Assistant Manager: Rs. 31,200 per month
- Executive: Rs. 26,000 per month
- No TA/DA is admissible for joining. If extended, the contract may carry an increase of up to 10% in the fixed monthly remuneration, at the discretion of the Competent Authority.
Selection Process
The selection will be done in these stages:
- Application Scrutiny (10 marks): Based on educational qualification, additional certifications/diplomas in Sports Management, and years of relevant work experience.
- Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted for interview in a minimum ratio of 1:3 based on the application scrutiny marks.
- Personal Interview (PI): The final merit list is prepared solely based on marks scored in the Personal Interview.
- Document Verification: Selected candidates must produce original certificates at the time of joining.
There is no written exam for this recruitment. In case of a tie in the merit list, preference goes to candidates with greater relevant work experience, followed by higher academic performance (CGPA/percentage). The Merit List remains valid for a minimum of 6 months, and vacancies arising from non-joining, resignation or termination will be filled from the same list.

Responsibilities
- Support planning, coordination and execution of the assigned functional area (accommodation, catering, transport, medical, security, event operations, etc.) for the 39th National Games
- Prepare formal correspondence including notices, letters, reports and presentations with accuracy and professionalism
- Coordinate with vendors, government departments, sports authorities and other stakeholders
- Monitor budgets, contracts and vendor/service performance for the assigned area
- Track project milestones, deliverables and risks, and provide timely status updates
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality and event-delivery standards
- Resolve on-ground issues and support crisis/contingency management during the Games
