GPSSB is hiring 108 Laboratory Technicians (Class-3) across 34 district panchayats in Gujarat. GPSSB Laboratory Technician Recruitment 2026 - 108 Posts

Gujarat Panchayat Service Selection Board (GPSSB), Gandhinagar has released Advertisement No. 04/2026-27 for the direct recruitment of 108 Laboratory Technician (Class-3) posts across district panchayat health laboratories in Gujarat. This recruitment is based on a demand letter from the Panchayat Department dated 03-03-2026. Selection will be through a Computer Based Recruitment Test (CBRT) or OMR-based written examination for 200 marks. Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

  • A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Bio-chemistry, or Bio-technology from a recognized University established under Central or State Act in India (including UGC-recognized deemed universities); AND
  • Passed a Diploma in Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Technician Course of Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Technology or Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or a one-year Medical Laboratory Technician / Laboratory Technician Training Course from any Government-recognized institution or University.

Additional Requirements

  • Computer Knowledge: Basic knowledge of computer applications as prescribed in Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967 is required.
  • Language: Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both is required.
  • Citizenship: You must be an Indian citizen, or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from specified countries with intent to permanently settle in India (with state government eligibility certificate).
  • Domicile for reserved categories: SC/ST/SEBC/EWS reservation benefits are applicable only to original domiciles of Gujarat.

Age Limit

  • You must be 18 years or above and not more than 36 years of age as on 08/05/2026 (i.e., born on or after 09/05/1990).
  • Maximum age with relaxation in all cases: 45 years.

Age Relaxation:

  • General category women: +5 years (max 45 years)
  • Reserved category (SC/ST/SEBC/EWS) men: +5 years (max 45 years)
  • Reserved category women: +10 years (max 45 years)
  • PwBD — General men (40%+ disability): +10 years (max 45 years)
  • PwBD — General women (40%+ disability): +15 years (max 45 years)

Salary

  • Selected candidates will be appointed on a contract basis at a fixed pay of Rs. 40,800 per month for the first 5 years of service, as per the Gujarat government's fixed-pay scheme.
  • After satisfactory completion of 5 years and passing prescribed tests, you will be regularized and get regular pay scale and allowances as per the Gujarat Panchayat Service pay rules in force at that time.
  • Note: During the fixed-pay period, no separate DA, HRA, or TA are paid — the fixed Rs. 40,800 is the total monthly pay.

  • Note: If a General category candidate is unable to pay online, they can pay a process fee of Rs. 500 in cash at the GPSSB office between 11/05/2026 and 13/05/2026 on working days.

Selection Process

Selection is through a single written examination consisting of one question paper:

  1. Written Examination (CBRT / OMR-based): 200 marks, 3 hours, objective MCQ format. Negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer (pro-rata basis). Each correct answer carries 1 mark.
  2. Provisional Merit List: Published based on marks scored in the written exam and category-wise vacancies.
  3. Document Verification: Candidates in the provisional merit list will be called for document verification (online or in-person).
  4. Final Selection List: Published after document verification; a Waiting List will also be prepared.

Note: Candidates will be provisionally admitted to the exam without document verification. Minimum Qualifying Standard (MQS) may be set by GPSSB — but no category will have a cutoff below 40%. Sports bonus (5% of total marks) and Widow bonus (5%) are applicable as per Gujarat government rules.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, process, and analyse blood, urine, tissue, and other biological samples in the district panchayat laboratory
  • Perform routine and specialized diagnostic tests using laboratory equipment and techniques
  • Maintain accurate records of all tests conducted and their results
  • Handle laboratory instruments with care and ensure regular cleaning and calibration
  • Follow biosafety protocols and proper waste disposal procedures at all times
  • Assist medical officers and doctors in diagnosing diseases through timely test reporting
  • Manage stock of laboratory chemicals, reagents, and consumables and report shortages
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports to supervisory authorities
