The District Selection Committee (DSC), Eastern West Khasi Hills District, Mairang has released an official advertisement (No. MRG/DSC.13/2024/15 dated 26 March 2026) for 39 vacancies spread across 9 posts in government departments under the district. These include clerical posts like Lower Division Assistant and Sectional Assistant, field posts like Gram Sevak and Enforcement Checker, technical posts like Assistant Mechanic and Power Pump Operator, and support posts like Driver and Grade IV. You must be a permanent resident of Eastern West Khasi Hills District to be eligible. Only Indian citizens with domicile in the district can apply.

Who Can Apply?

Lower Division Assistant (LDA)

• Qualification: SSLC (10th) passed
• Computer Knowledge: Required — typing speed not less than 30 words per minute (tested through a technical test)

Gram Sevak & Additional Gram Sevika

• Qualification: SSLC (10th) passed
• Gram Sevak is open to both Male & Female; Additional Gram Sevika is for Female candidates only

Enforcement Checker & Sectional Assistant

• Qualification: SSLC (10th) passed

Assistant Mechanic

• Qualification: SSLC (10th) passed with a valid certificate in Motor Mechanic or Automobile Engineering from a recognised ITI

Power Pump Operator

• Qualification: Class VIII (8th) passed with practical knowledge in operation and maintenance of pumps

Driver

• Qualification: Class VIII (8th) passed
• Must have a valid Driving Licence for light or medium/heavy motor vehicle
• Must have fair knowledge of repairing vehicle defects

Grade IV

• Qualification: Class VI (6th) passed

Age Limit

• Minimum age: 18 years
• Maximum age: 32 years as on 01 January 2026
• SC/ST relaxation: 5 years over the upper age limit (up to 37 years)
• Government employees: No upper age limit, subject to producing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) through proper channel
• Date of birth as entered in Matriculation/SSLC Certificate is the only accepted proof

Salary

• Grade IV (Level 1): Rs. 18,000 per month (entry pay)
• Driver, Assistant Mechanic, Power Pump Operator (Level 3): Rs. 21,700 per month (entry pay)
• Enforcement Checker, Sectional Assistant (Level 4): Rs. 25,500 per month (entry pay)
• LDA, Gram Sevak, Additional Gram Sevika (Level 5): Rs. 29,200 per month (entry pay)
• Plus DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Government of Meghalaya rules

Application Fee

• General / Unreserved: Rs. 100
• SC / ST: Rs. 50
• PwD (Person with Disabilities): No fee (subject to furnishing Disability Certificate)
• Payment mode: Online — Meghalaya ePayment (Debit/Credit Card/Net Banking/UPI) or eChallan via SBI branches
• Fee once paid will not be refunded

Selection Process

Selection is done by the District Selection Committee through the following stages:

1. Written Examination:
   • For Grade IV: General Knowledge — 100 marks (qualifying paper only)
   • For all other posts: General English (70 marks) + Elementary Mathematics, Science & Aptitude (130 marks, including 30 marks for Aptitude) + General Knowledge (70 marks) = 270 marks
2. Computer Typing Test — for LDA post only (30 WPM minimum)
3. Practical Test — for technical posts where applicable
4. Interview (30 marks) — for Grade III posts
5. Document Verification — after written exam, before final selection

Note: All applicants are allowed to appear in the exam. Document scrutiny happens after the written exam/screening test.

A qualifying paper in Khasi language is mandatory for all candidates applying for any category of posts.
