About This Job

The Directorate of Disaster Management, A&N Administration is hiring 3 District Consultants (DM) on contract basis — one for each district of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. If you have a Master's Degree in Disaster Management and at least 2 years of experience in the field, you can apply by email or by post. The salary is a fixed Rs. 50,000 per month. A&N Administration District Consultant (DM) Recruitment 2026 - 3 Posts

The Directorate of Disaster Management, Andaman and Nicobar Administration (A&N Administration) has released a vacancy notice for 3 District Consultant (DM) posts under the Directorate of Disaster Management. These consultants will work at the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) level to support disaster preparedness, response, and mitigation activities across the three districts of the Union Territory. The engagement is purely on contract basis for a period of 1 year, extendable on satisfactory performance. Selection will be through a Walk-in Interview — no written exam is required.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification:

  • Master's Degree in Disaster Management, OR
  • Master's Degree with a PG Diploma in Disaster Management from a recognised university

Desirable Qualification:

  • Ph.D. and other additional qualifications in the relevant field are preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the field of Disaster Management is required

Other Conditions:

  • On selection, you will have to serve in any part of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands where the Directorate has jurisdiction

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 45 years as on the closing date of submission (05 May 2026)
  • No minimum age is mentioned in the notification

Salary

  • Consolidated remuneration of Rs. 50,000 per month (fixed)
  • No Earned Leave is admissible during the contract period; only Casual Leave as per Central Civil Service Rule
  • TA/DA for official tours: Air (economy class) or ship (1st class) travel; hotel accommodation up to Rs. 750/day; non-AC taxi up to Rs. 225/day; food bills up to Rs. 800/day

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection will be done through:

  1. Walk-in Interview: The date and venue of the interview will be published on the official website www.ddm.and.nic.in, in the Daily Telegrams, and announced through All India Radio, Port Blair. No individual call letters will be sent.
  2. Document Verification: You must bring original certificates for verification on the day of the personal interview.

Note: No TA or DA will be paid to candidates for attending the selection process or personal interview.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the appropriate district authority and maintain coordination with the UT Disaster Management Authority (UTDMA)
  • Align district disaster management plans with the Disaster Management Act, Sendai Framework, and State Plan
  • Coordinate Mock Exercises at various locations across the district
  • Train officials for capacity building to improve preparedness and effective response measures
  • Create public awareness about Disaster Risk Management in the community
  • Compile and furnish data and information to UTDMA on disaster aspects and Sendai Framework monitoring indicators
  • Improve coordination between the District Administration and Circle/Panchayat level bodies for preparedness, response, and mitigation
  • Help set up the Disaster Data Base at the District level
  • Assist the DDMA in identifying opportunities for mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in development programmes

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Master's Degree in Disaster Management or Master's Degree with PG Diploma in Disaster Management

Preferred Qualification

Ph.D. and other additional qualifications in the respective field

Required Skills

Disaster risk reduction, disaster management planning, coordination with government authorities, data compilation and reporting

Age Limit

18 - 45 years (as on 05 May 2026)
