Who Can Apply?

For Mazdoor Posts:

  • Qualification: You need to have passed the Secondary School Examination (10th Standard) from a recognised Board or Institution.
  • You should qualify in the trade test.
  • You must have a good physique.

For Raftman Posts:

  • Qualification: You need to have passed 10th Standard from a recognised Board.
  • You must know swimming and diving.
  • You should qualify in the trade test and have a good physique.

For Grader, Assistant Sawyer, Beltman, Oiler, Timber Recorder, Tallyman, and Grinder:

  • Qualification: You need to have passed 10th Standard from a recognised Board OR hold an ITI Certificate in the concerned trade from a recognised Industrial Training Institute.
  • You should qualify in the trade test and have a good physique.

Desirable: Knowledge of Hindi is preferred for all posts.

Age Limit

  • Male candidates: 18 to 33 years
  • Female candidates: 18 to 38 years
  • Age is calculated as on the closing date of applications, i.e., 29 April 2026.

Age Relaxation:

  • ST candidates: 5 years relaxation (Male up to 38 years, Female up to 43 years)
  • OBC candidates: 3 years relaxation (Male up to 36 years, Female up to 41 years)
  • Central Government Employees: Up to 40 years (45 years for ST candidates) with minimum 3 years continuous service
  • Meritorious Sportsperson: Up to 5 years (10 years for ST candidates)

Salary

  • All posts are in Pay Matrix Level-1.
  • Your salary will range from Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 56,900 per month.
  • You will also receive DA, HRA, and other allowances as per Central Government rules applicable in the A&N Islands.

Physical Standards

The selection includes a physical endurance test with three levels:

Level I - Running Test (Shortlisting)

  • Male candidates: Must complete a distance of 10 km
  • Female candidates: Must complete a distance of 8 km
  • 15 times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted based on this test.

Level II - Long Jump (Qualifying)

  • Male (General & OBC): 12 feet
  • Male (ST): 9 feet
  • Female (General & OBC): 9 feet
  • Female (ST): 7 feet
  • You get 3 attempts to clear this test.

Level III - Weight Carrying Test (Final Selection)

  • Male candidates: Carry 30 kg weight over a distance of 500 metres
  • Female candidates: Carry 20 kg weight over a distance of 500 metres
  • The merit list for final selection is prepared based on this test.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam for this recruitment. Selection will be done in the following stages:

  1. Physical Endurance Test (3 Levels): Running test (Level I for shortlisting), Long Jump (Level II, qualifying), and Weight Carrying test (Level III for final merit). This applies to all Mazdoor and Group C posts.
  2. Trade Test: For Group C Non-Ministerial posts (Raftman, Grader, Assistant Sawyer, Beltman, Oiler, Timber Recorder, Tallyman, Grinder) under Mill Division, Chatham. The grade-specific trade test will be conducted by DCF, Mill Division at a later stage based on the merit list and preferences submitted by candidates.
  3. Document Verification: Original certificates and testimonials will be verified in person. You must bring a printed copy of your online application along with all self-attested documents.
  4. Medical Examination: Final selection is based on qualifying the physical test, document verification, character and antecedent verification, and medical examination.

There will be a probation period of 2 years, which may be extended if performance is unsatisfactory.

Responsibilities

  • Handle manual forestry work including timber extraction, loading, and unloading operations
  • Assist in maintenance and upkeep of forest roads, trails, and infrastructure
  • Work with forest officers in plantation drives, afforestation, and nursery maintenance
  • Operate or assist with sawmill machinery, grading, and timber processing as assigned
  • Follow safety rules and guidelines while working in forest areas and mill division
  • Keep records of timber measurements, inventory counts, and daily work logs when assigned
  • Assist in wildlife protection activities and report any illegal activities in the forest area
  • Perform raft operations, swimming, and diving tasks when posted as Raftman

Exam Pattern

There is no written examination for this recruitment. The selection is entirely through a Physical Endurance Test conducted in three levels.
