About This Job

The Directorate of Health Services, Andaman and Nicobar Administration is hiring 51 Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANM) for the Health Department. DHS Andaman ANM Recruitment 2026 - 51 Posts

The Directorate of Health Services (DHS), Andaman and Nicobar Administration has released a notification to fill 51 Group C Non-Ministerial posts of Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) through open recruitment. Only female candidates are eligible to apply for these posts. Selection will be done through a Computer Based Test (CBT) conducted with the help of a Recruitment Agency. The exam will be held only at Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair).

Who Can Apply?

  • Gender: Only female candidates are eligible.
  • Nationality: You must be an Indian National.
  • Educational Qualification: You must have passed the Senior Secondary Examination (12th Standard) from a recognised Board or institution.
  • Professional Qualification: You must have passed the ANM Certificate Course and hold a valid ANM training certificate from a recognised institute.

Age Limit

  • You should be between 18 and 38 years old as on 06 May 2026 (closing date for applications).
  • OBC candidates: Upper age relaxation of 3 years — maximum 41 years.
  • ST candidates: No age relaxation — maximum 38 years.
  • PwBD (Unreserved): 10 years relaxation — maximum 48 years.
  • PwBD (OBC): 13 years relaxation — maximum 51 years.
  • PwBD (ST): 10 years relaxation — maximum 48 years.
  • Central Government Civilian Employees with minimum 3 years continuous service: maximum 40 years.
  • DRM & Contract Employees (as per A&N Administration circulars): maximum 40 years.

Salary

  • You will get a salary of Rs. 25,500 to Rs. 81,100 per month under Pay Level 4 of the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix.
  • Plus DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Central Government rules.

Selection Process

Selection will be done in 2 stages:

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT): Conducted in English only. Three parts — Professional/Technical subjects (80%), General Awareness (10%), General Science (10%). There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. The exam will be held at Sri Vijaya Puram only.
  2. Document/Certificate Verification: Shortlisted candidates based on CBT merit will be called in person to verify all original certificates and documents.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary healthcare services and nursing care to patients in the assigned area
  • Assist in antenatal, intranatal, postnatal, and neonatal care for mothers and newborns
  • Conduct immunisation drives and track beneficiaries under national health programmes
  • Monitor and manage communicable diseases and community health problems
  • Educate families on nutrition, hygiene, sanitation, and mental health awareness
  • Maintain health records, registers, and reports for the assigned sub-centre or PHC
  • Refer patients requiring higher-level care to the appropriate medical facility
  • Assist in first aid and emergency care at the community level
