FSSAI is hiring 1 Advisor at its headquarters in New Delhi through deputation (including short-term contract) on Foreign Service terms. Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) Advisor Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), a statutory body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has released Deputation Notice DEP-03/2026 to fill one Advisor (Pay Level-14) post at its headquarters in New Delhi. This is a Group 'A' post filled through transfer on deputation, and it is exempted from the rule of immediate absorption — meaning you can return to your parent department once your tenure ends. If you are a senior officer with strong technical or managerial experience in food safety, food science, or a related field, and have significant research and development experience, this is a good opportunity to work at the national food regulator.

FSSAI is the statutory body set up under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 for laying down science-based standards for food articles and regulating their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import. As Advisor, you would work directly with FSSAI's technical and scientific divisions on policy that affects food safety across the country. The Food Authority reserves the right not to fill the vacancy or to cancel the advertisement at any stage.

Who Can Apply?

You need to meet all of the following conditions:

• Current Post: You should be holding an analogous post on a regular basis in your parent cadre or department, OR have 5 years of regular service in Pay Level 13 or equivalent.
• Qualification: A Master's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Technology, Food Science & Technology, Food & Nutrition, Edible Oil Technology, Microbiology, Dairy Technology, Agricultural/Horticultural Sciences, Toxicology, Public Health, Life Science, Biotechnology, or a related subject approved by the Food Authority. A one-year PG Diploma in Food Safety, Food Science, Food Processing, Quality Assurance, Nutrition or Dairy Science is also accepted (with a relevant Bachelor's subject), and so is a BE/B.Tech in Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Biotechnology, Food Process Engineering or a related field, or a 4-year Bachelor's degree in Medicine, Veterinary Sciences, Fisheries or Animal Sciences.
• Experience: At least 18 years of R&D experience in Laboratories, Research Institutions, or Scientific Organizations working on food science, standards or safety, with at least 9 years in a supervisory capacity. If you hold a Doctorate Degree in a related subject, you need 15 years of experience instead (at least 8 years supervisory).
• Publications: You must have published research work of high standard in your related field.

Note: Officers from organizations that pay salaries on an IDA basis (rather than the standard CDA scale) can check the equivalent pay level in the notification's Annexure-I to confirm they meet the Pay Level 13 requirement.

Age Limit

• The maximum age limit is 58 years as on 14 August 2026.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 1,44,200 to Rs. 2,18,200 per month under Pay Level 14 of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
• You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Central Government deputation rules.
• Deputation terms and pay will be governed by DoPT Office Memorandum No. 6/8/2009-Estt. (Pay II) dated 17.06.2010, and officers from IDA-pay organizations can check the equivalent scale in the notification's Annexure-I.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

This is a deputation post, so there is no written exam. Selection is based on:

1. Screening of Applications: Your eligibility, qualification and experience will be checked against the deputation circular requirements.
2. Verification of Service Records: Your APARs for the last 5 years, integrity certificate, and vigilance clearance will be verified by your cadre-controlling authority.
3. Selection Committee Review: A selection committee at FSSAI will assess your credentials, publications, and experience before making the final selection.
