The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), a body under the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, has released a notification through its Regional Office, Ahmedabad to engage 9 retired Junior Engineers — in Civil and Electrical disciplines — on contract across its Gujarat Region offices and hospitals. This engagement is meant for superannuated government engineers to fill vacant technical posts until regular staff are recruited. Preference will be given to retired engineers with experience in building construction and maintenance. The contract is initially for one year and can be extended annually based on performance, but no extension will be granted beyond the age of 65 years.

Who Can Apply?

For Junior Engineer (Civil):

• You must have held the post of Junior Engineer (Civil) or a superior post at the time of your retirement from Central/State PWD or CPSUs/PSUs
• A Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/Institution is required

For Junior Engineer (Electrical):

• You must have held the post of Junior Engineer (Electrical) or a superior post at the time of your retirement from Central/State PWD or CPSUs/PSUs
• A Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized University/Institution is required

Preference will be given to retired government engineers with experience in building construction and maintenance.

Age Limit

• Maximum age is 64 years as on 25 August 2026 (the last date for submission of application).
• No extension of contract will be granted beyond the age of 65 years.

Salary

• If you retired from a pensionable government post, you will get a consolidated amount equal to your last pay drawn minus your pension, based on your rank at retirement.
• If you retired from a non-pensionable post (autonomous bodies, PSUs, etc.), you will get a consolidated salary of Rs. 33,630 per month for both Junior Engineer (Civil) and Junior Engineer (Electrical).
• You will also get TA/DA for official tours, at rates applicable to regular Junior Engineers.
• No other benefits such as HRA, CCA, transport allowance, or medical reimbursement are admissible.

Selection Process

Selection is based on a single stage:

1. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be intimated about the date and time of the interview by e-mail. The interview will be held at the Regional Office, Ahmedabad.

Other Conditions

• Selected candidates will be required to sign an agreement as per ESIC Headquarters' terms for retired engineer engagements.
• You may be assigned duties at any ESIC office, hospital, institution, establishment, or project site under the jurisdiction of the ESIC Gujarat Region, as required from time to time.
• If selected, you must produce a Medical Fitness Certificate issued by a Government Civil Surgeon before joining.
• This is a purely contractual engagement — completing the tenure does not entitle you to regularization or permanency. Your service may be terminated with one month's notice (or pay in lieu).
• You are entitled to a maximum of one day's leave for every month of completed service, in addition to government holidays. No other paid leave is admissible.
• The number of vacancies is provisional and may increase or decrease based on administrative requirements. Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.

• Inspect and maintain building and electrical infrastructure at ESIC hospitals and offices
• Supervise ongoing civil or electrical works and ensure quality compliance
• Prepare estimates, technical reports, and maintenance schedules
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors for repair and construction work
• Ensure timely completion of maintenance and construction projects
• Report technical issues and recommend corrective action to the Competent Authority
• Travel to project sites and other ESIC establishments as required
