CUSAT has released a notification inviting applications for the post of Assistant Professor in the Division of Computer Science and Engineering at the Cochin University College of Engineering, Kuttanad (CUCEK). This is part of a larger recruitment drive covering multiple engineering and science divisions at CUSAT, published under Ad.F1/Notification of Contract Teachers/2012. Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a B.E. / B.Tech. / B.S. and M.E. / M.Tech. / M.S. or Integrated M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering (or a closely related field), with First Class or equivalent in either degree, as prescribed by AICTE norms for the School of Engineering.
• Preferred: A Ph.D. is not mandatory but earns you a higher monthly remuneration.
• Research: Tenure faculty are permitted to co-supervise Ph.D. scholars as per university regulations and are encouraged to take up research work.
• Reservation: Reservation rules issued by the Government of Kerala from time to time will apply.
• Selection Criteria: Your application will be assessed as per the UGC Regulations 2018 on minimum qualifications for appointment of teachers, along with the selection criteria published under those regulations on the CUSAT recruitment portal.
• NET Exemption: If you meet UGC's NET exemption criteria, check the "NET Exemption" guideline on the CUSAT recruitment portal before applying.

Salary

• You will get a monthly remuneration of Rs. 45,000 if you do not hold a Ph.D., or Rs. 47,000 if you hold a Ph.D., effective from 1 July 2026.
• Your pay and gross emoluments are fixed by the Government of Kerala in line with orders applicable to contract appointments, not the regular UGC pay scale.
• After completing 5 years of continuous service, you become eligible for gratuity as per the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972. In case of death or disablement, this 5-year condition does not apply.
• As a tenure faculty member, you are appointed on a continuous basis including the vacation period. If you are engaged in academic or co-curricular duties during vacation, you will not get separate pay for exam duties such as invigilation or paper valuation, but you are not denied vacation.

Selection Process

Your selection goes through these stages:

1. Online Application: Submit your application in the prescribed format on the CUSAT recruitment portal.
2. Document Verification: Send a signed hard copy of your application along with self-attested proof of age, mark lists, degree certificates, specialization proof, publication proof (UGC-approved/peer-reviewed journals), experience certificates, awards, and CGPA-to-percentage conversion proof.
3. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview before the Selection Committee, which follows the selection criteria laid out under UGC Regulations 2018.
4. Rank List: A merit-based rank list is prepared and published, and it stays valid for two years from the date of publication.

Note: After your five-year tenure ends, a fresh notification and selection process will be conducted. You may reapply and will be considered along with other candidates based on the Selection Committee's recommendation. This recruitment is also subject to the outcome of any Writ Petitions or Writ Appeals pending before the Kerala High Court.
