CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI), Chennai — a national laboratory under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) — has issued Notification No. 04/2026 dated 30.04.2026 for engagement of 4 project staff on temporary basis at the CSIR-CLRI Regional Centre, Kolkata. The positions cover Project Associate-I (PAT-I), Project Assistant-II (PA-II), and Project Associate-II (PAT-II) in Leather Technology and Chemistry. The tenure is up to 31 March 2027 and is co-terminus with the project. Selected candidates may be empaneled for future project requirements.

Who Can Apply?

Project Associate-I (Position 1) - Rs. 25,000/month

• Essential: B.E./B.Tech. in Leather Technology with minimum 60% marks from a recognised University / Institute
• Desirable: Minimum 6 months of industrial knowledge / exposure in leather processing, particularly cleaner leather technologies, process control studies, product-specific leather development, and demonstration / validation activities

Project Assistant-II (PA-II) - Rs. 20,000/month

• Essential: B.Sc. in Chemistry or Chemistry Honours with minimum 60% marks from a recognised University / Institute
• Desirable: M.Sc. in Chemistry (General / Organic / Nanotechnology / Polymer Science / Material Science / Inorganic / Physical / Analytical)

Project Associate-II (PAT-II) - Rs. 28,000/month

• Essential: B.Tech in Leather Technology or M.Sc in Chemistry (any branch) with 2 years research experience from an industrial / academic institution or science & technology organisation, OR M.Tech in Leather Technology, OR M.Tech in Biotechnology
• Desirable: Knowledge / experience in R&D and handling analytical instruments with good communication skills in English / Hindi / Bengali

Project Associate-I (Position 4) - Rs. 25,000/month

• Essential: B.Tech in Leather Technology or M.Sc in Chemistry (any branch)
• Desirable: Knowledge / experience in R&D and handling analytical instruments with good communication skills in English / Hindi / Bengali

Note: Final year / semester students awaiting results are NOT eligible. Candidates who have completed 6 / 7 years (whichever applies) as project staff in any CSIR Lab / Institute are NOT eligible.

Age Limit

• Upper age limit: 35 years (as on date of walk-in interview)
• Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC / ST / PwBD / Women, 3 years for OBC, as per Government of India rules

Salary

• Project Associate-I (PAT-I): Rs. 25,000 per month plus HRA
• Project Assistant-II (PA-II): Rs. 20,000 per month plus HRA
• Project Associate-II (PAT-II): Rs. 28,000 per month plus HRA
• Tenure: up to 31 March 2027, extendable and co-terminus with the project or till requirement exists, whichever is earlier

Selection Process (Walk-in Interview)

Selection is through walk-in interview on the same day. There is no written exam:

1. Walk-in Interview: Attend the interview on 27 May 2026 at 10:00 AM at CSIR-CLRI Regional Centre, Kolkata. Reporting deadline is 10:30 AM — late entries will not be allowed.
2. Document Verification: Bring duly filled application form, self-attested photocopies of all certificates, originals for verification, photo ID, and 2 passport-size colour photos.
3. Empanelment: Candidates found suitable will be empanelled. Empanelled candidates may be selected for future project requirements.
