Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), a Miniratna Schedule 'A' company under the Government of India, has released a notification for 2 Driver (Staff Car) posts on contract. Selection is through a Practical Test of 100 marks — there is no written exam. The contract runs for a maximum of three years, with posting at CSL or its project sites.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have passed 10th Std (X) and hold a valid Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) driving license.
• Experience: You need a minimum of 10 years of experience as a driver, out of which at least 1 year must be as a Staff Car Driver for senior officers like CMD, Director, CVO, CEO or CFO of a Central PSE, State PSU or officials of equivalent rank in Central/State Government.
• Nationality: Only Indian nationals can apply.

Experience is counted only after you passed 10th and got your driving license, reckoned as on 9 June 2026.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 55 years as on 9 June 2026.
• You should have been born on or after 10 June 1971.

Salary

• The consolidated monthly pay in the first year of contract is Rs. 27,000 per month.
• An annual increase applies in the following years.
• You will also be eligible for extra hours of work beyond normal working hours.

Selection Process

Selection is based on a practical test — there is no written exam:

1. Application Scrutiny: CSL shortlists candidates based on the certificates uploaded in the online portal.
2. Certificate Verification: Shortlisted candidates produce original certificates for age, qualification, experience and reservation.
3. Practical Test (100 Marks): Pass mark is 50% for unreserved posts and 45% for OBC candidates.
4. Medical Examination: Selected candidates must clear a medical fitness test before joining.

The rank list is prepared on the marks scored in the Practical Test. If two candidates score the same, the older candidate ranks higher.

3. Fill in the online application form for the Driver (Staff Car) post.

6. Submit the application and keep a printout with your registration number. You do not need to send any hard copy by post.

• Follow all traffic rules and CSL safety guidelines inside and outside factory premises
• Keep a daily log of trips, kilometres and fuel used
• Report any vehicle fault or accident to the concerned officer immediately
• Work extra hours when duty requires, beyond normal working hours
