Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), a listed Miniratna Schedule 'A' company of the Government of India, has invited online applications for 1 Senior Project Officer (Safety) and 1 Project Officer (Safety) post at its CSL AN Ship Repair Unit (CANSRU) in Sri Vijaya Puram, Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Both posts are on a 5-year contract and involve handling Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) activities at the shipyard. Selection is based on a work experience presentation and a personal interview — engineering degree holders with supervisory safety experience in a shipyard or factory are ideal candidates. CSL reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of vacancies, or to cancel the recruitment process, based on its requirements.

Who Can Apply?

For Senior Project Officer (Safety):

• Qualification: Degree in Safety Engineering, OR Degree in any Engineering branch, OR Degree in Physics/Chemistry, OR Diploma in Engineering — combined with a Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Industrial Safety (with some exemptions)
• Experience: Engineering degree holders need at least 4 years, and other degree/diploma holders need at least 7 years of supervisory or management experience in a shipyard or factory's production, maintenance, or safety department, including HSE handling

For Project Officer (Safety):

• Qualification: Same as above (Engineering/Physics/Chemistry degree or Diploma, plus Industrial Safety qualification with exemptions)
• Experience: Engineering degree holders need at least 2 years, and other degree/diploma holders need at least 5 years of relevant supervisory or HSE experience in a shipyard or factory

Experience acquired only after you pass your qualifying degree or diploma is counted, reckoned as on 31 August 2026. Training periods with remuneration also count as experience. If you are currently working, you can submit your Appointment Order, Offer Letter, or latest pay slip as proof of experience in place of an experience certificate.

Age Limit

• Project Officer (Safety): Should not exceed 30 years as on 31 August 2026 (born on or after 1 September 1996)
• Senior Project Officer (Safety): Should not exceed 35 years as on 31 August 2026 (born on or after 1 September 1991)
• Age Relaxation: As per Government of India rules for reserved categories and ex-servicemen. Even after all relaxations, your age cannot exceed 50 years.

Salary

• Senior Project Officer (Safety): Rs. 63,100/month in Year 1, rising to Rs. 71,500/month by Year 5
• Project Officer (Safety): Rs. 49,100/month in Year 1, rising to Rs. 57,500/month by Year 5
• Pay is a consolidated monthly amount; compensation for extra hours of work is given as per CSL CANSRU policy.

Nature of Work & Important Conditions

• Your posting will be at CSL AN Ship Repair Unit (CANSRU), Sri Vijaya Puram, or any other CSL unit or project site in India or abroad, as required.
• The work involves frequent visits to work sites, shops, docks, and ships under construction or repair, including climbing vertical ladders and working in confined spaces or at height. This post is therefore not identified as suitable for PwBD candidates due to the safety risk involved.
• If you are applying under the EWS category, you must submit a valid Income and Asset Certificate from a prescribed authority such as a District Magistrate or Sub-Divisional Magistrate.
• Ex-servicemen should submit their Discharge Certificate, Discharge Book, or Pension Payment Order, along with proof of qualification and work experience gained during Armed Forces service.
• If you are currently on contract with CSL, you can apply only if you are in the final year of your existing contract. Candidates in their first or second year of a CSL contract are not eligible to apply for these posts.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in these stages:

1. Application Scrutiny: CSL checks your uploaded certificates against the eligibility criteria and may shortlist candidates.
2. Objective Type Test (if held): Conducted at CSL Kochi or CSL AN Ship Repair Unit, only if the number of applicants is high. Marks are used only for shortlisting, not for the final rank list.
3. Certificate Verification: Only candidates who clear certificate verification move ahead.
4. Power Point Presentation: Assesses your work experience for 80 marks.
5. Personal Interview: Worth 20 marks.

Your final rank is based on a combined score out of 100 marks from the Power Point Presentation and Personal Interview. If candidates are tied on total marks, the Power Point Presentation score decides the rank first, and seniority in age decides any remaining tie.
