ChPA Executive Engineer Civil Recruitment 2026: Overview
Chennai Port Authority (ChPA) is filling Executive Engineer (Civil) positions in its Civil Engineering Department in Chennai. The circular offers an absorption or deputation route for serving officers of Major Port Authorities. Your parent port has an active part in the process because it must forward your case through the proper channel.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Appointment terms: If selected, you will join through absorption or deputation under the terms set by the Central Government. The attached recruitment rules describe the service route for officers moving from other Major Port Trusts.
- Commitment to join: The authority asks for your willingness to take up the appointment. You must also give an undertaking that you will not withdraw if selected. This is a specific condition of the recruitment.
- Parent-port clearance: Your present Port Authority must be willing to relieve you. It also has to certify the accuracy of your service and qualification information, rather than simply pass on an unchecked application.
- Complete forwarding: ChPA will consider only cases sent through the proper channel within the prescribed time. An application that reaches the authority late, or arrives without the required supporting information, will not be considered.
Application Submission Notes
The notice prescribes the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Online Application Portal (OAP), followed by a printout forwarded through your parent organisation. Online entry is therefore only part of the submission; your parent port must send the complete case to ChPA.

Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
For absorption/deputation, a Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognised university or institution is essential. Applicants must be serving officers in analogous or qualifying feeder posts in a Major Port Trust.
