Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, has released advertisement No. 21001/ADVISOR/HR/KOT/2026/01 for one Advisor (Kavach System) post at its Kotdwar unit. The Advisor will guide BEL teams and development partners on KAVACH train collision avoidance system, the indigenous Automatic Train Protection technology being deployed by Indian Railways. Initial engagement is for one year, extendable up to 8 years total or until age 68, whichever is earlier.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• B.E./B.Tech in Electronics & Telecommunication, Electronics & Communication, or Electronics

Essential Experience (any one of the following)

• Minimum 3 years as Joint Director/Tele or ED/Tele or PED/Tele at Design cells of Indian Railways, Production units, or industries — handling signaling and networking liaison/inspection/development under the Ministry of Railways
• OR minimum 3 years as Joint Director/Signals or ED/Signals or PED/Signals at the same setup
• OR minimum 3 years as Chief Signal & Telecom Engineer (CSTE) in Indian Railways
• OR minimum 3 years as ED/PED in a Railway PSU involving Railway Signalling/Telecom Projects

Domain Expertise Required

• KAVACH Systems and signaling systems in Indian Railways
• Finalization of signaling plans and circuits
• Commencing signaling work and monitoring signaling/communication systems
• Development of requirements and specifications for signaling and telecom items

External advisors bound by Confidentiality-cum-Non-Compete agreements with their previous employer are not eligible to apply.

Age Limit

• Upper age limit: 65 years as on 01 April 2026
• Post-retirement experience in other organisations can be considered for age relaxation

Salary

• The remuneration will be your last drawn basic pay at the time of superannuation from the previous government organisation
• On extension, the remuneration is increased by 5% annually on the last drawn pay (excluding conveyance)
• Relevant post-retirement experience can enhance the last drawn pay by an additional 5% per year, at the discretion of the selection committee
• You must be cleared from vigilance and disciplinary angle at the time of retirement

Selection Process

The selection has the following steps:

1. Screening of Applications: Candidates meeting the criteria mentioned in the advertisement will be shortlisted
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview at BEL
3. Final Result: The result of the final selection will be available on the BEL website
4. Provisional Offer: A provisional offer of engagement will be sent by email to the selected candidate

• Explain KAVACH requirements (SyRS, FRS documents from RDSO website) to BEL team and development partners with practical examples
• Guide BEL team and development partners on signaling and technical details specific to the KAVACH system
• Coordinate with RDSO, IRISET, and other wings of Indian Railways for technical discussions, clarifications, and site visits
• Support BEL team during proto/lab tests, type tests, inter-operability tests, and field trials of the KAVACH system
• Help prepare necessary documents, test reports, and hazard cases as per RDSO requirements
• Monitor signaling and communication systems and finalize signaling plans and circuits
• Assist in development of specifications for signaling and telecom items
