The Ahmedabad World Heritage City Trust (AWHCT), set up under the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), is hiring for 19 posts on a contract basis. Ahmedabad is India's first UNESCO World Heritage City, and the Ahmedabad World Heritage City Trust (AWHCT) manages its conservation, tourism and heritage work. AWHCT has now opened 19 contract posts covering heritage conservation, GIS mapping, restoration, administration and a dedicated Tourism Cell. This is a great fit for architects, historians, GIS specialists and tourism professionals who want to work on protecting and promoting a world heritage city. The posts are on a contract basis, generally for 3 years (extendable).

Who Can Apply?

Each post has its own qualification. Here are the main ones:

Historian / Social Science Expert

• Master's in History, Archaeology, Anthropology, Sociology, Heritage Management or Cultural Studies with 5 years of experience in research, documentation and public outreach.

Assistant Director

• Bachelor's in Architecture (CoA-registered) with 10 years of experience, OR B.Arch + Master's in Management/Public Administration/Heritage Management with 4 years experience.

Conservation Architects

• M.Arch (Conservation) with at least 2 years of experience in architectural heritage conservation.

GIS Expert

• Master's/Bachelor's in Geography or Geoinformatics with 3 years of experience.

Administrative Coordinator

• Bachelor's in Administration/Management with 5 years experience, or a retired AMC employee.

Restoration Engineer / Supervisor

• Retired Assistant Civil Engineer (and above) or retired Technical Supervisor of AMC.

Age Limit

• For most posts (Historian, Architects, GIS Expert, Administrative Coordinator, Draft Person, Manager and Assistant Managers): minimum 25 years and maximum 35 to 40 years depending on the post.
• For Assistant Director: minimum 35 years and maximum 45 years.
• Retired-employee posts (Restoration Engineer, some coordinator roles) follow separate age rules — check the notification.

Salary

• Salary ranges from Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 80,000 per month depending on the post, as per 7th CPC guidelines.
• The Assistant Director post offers around Rs. 80,000 per month.
• Tourism Cell and junior posts fall in the lower-to-middle part of this range.

Selection Process

1. Application Screening: Your qualification and experience are checked against the post requirement.
2. Interview / Trade Test: Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview (and a practical/trade test where relevant, such as the Draft Person post).
