The University of Allahabad has released an advertisement for engagement in the ICSSR Major Research Project titled "Ethnography and Livelihood Options among the Great Andamanese: A Study toward Sustainability and Empowerment in the Andaman Islands." The project is sanctioned under the ICSSR 2nd Call for Multi-disciplinary Studies on Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) of India 2025-26. Selection is purely through interview — no written exam. Candidates with experience in ethnographic fieldwork will be preferred.

• Research Assistant: 1 post (16 months duration, Rs. 37,000/month)

Who Can Apply?

For Research Assistant (Rs. 37,000/month):

• You must have a Postgraduate degree in any Social Science discipline with a minimum of 55% marks.
• Preference will be given to candidates with NET / M.Phil. / Ph.D. qualifications.

For Field Investigator (Rs. 20,000/month):

• You must have a Graduate degree in any Social Science discipline with a minimum of 55% marks.
• Preference will be given to candidates with a four-year graduation program.

Common Conditions:

• You must be willing to undertake extensive fieldwork in the Andaman Islands.
• Preference for candidates with experience in ethnographic fieldwork.

Salary

• Research Assistant: Rs. 37,000 per month (consolidated, as per ICSSR guidelines)
• Field Investigator: Rs. 20,000 per month (consolidated, as per ICSSR guidelines)
• Note: The positions are purely temporary and may be terminated if the work done is unsatisfactory. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
